Citi is looking for placement analysts to join the EMEA Alternative Asset Group team in London, from September 2025. At Citi’s Alternative Assets Group, we work at the intersection of capital and opportunity – partnering with leading private equity firms to execute complex, high-takes transactions that shape industries.

As a Placement analyst in the Alternative Assets Group team, you will work closely with senior bankers across EMEA, playing a key role in sponsor-led deal origination. You’ll support high-impact, strategic financing transactions (such as leveraged buyouts and recapitalizations), whilst gaining exposure to Citi’s full suite of products and global capabilities.

This is a unique opportunity to join a high-priority team at the heart of Citi’s investment banking franchise. You’ll work with a global client base – partnering with some of the world’s leading private equity firms – and help deliver best-in-class insights, ideas and execution.

We’re committed to teaching you the ropes. During our 3-month placement analyst program, which starts in September 2025, you will be assigned to the UK, Europe, Middle East and Africa Alternative Assets Group. Successful placement analysts will be considered for a full-time position after graduation.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Supporting the Sponsor franchise in covering our clients and achieving our firmwide goal of increasing our market share in the Sponsors business by developing intimate knowledge of the client’s strategies, portfolios and investment criteria

  • The role will be focused primarily on origination which involves coordination across the bank to best position the firm (incl. owning asset campaigns, buyer databases, generating content/ideas for our clients etc.) as well as ownership of our client relationships (ensuring we deliver for our clients and maintaining our dialogue with them) and opportunistically on execution of our client’s deals

  • Responsible for staying abreast of market and industry trends, “best practices” and competitive landscape

  • The Placement Analyst will develop (i) in-depth understanding of the dynamics of the business, (ii) an understanding of clients’ priorities with the aim of identifying appropriate marketing opportunities and (iii) strong relationships internally with key product, risk and regional partners

  • The Placement Analyst will also work very closely with multiple relationship teams throughout Citi and product partners including Capital Markets

  • Providing coordination and analytical support on existing and new relationships in the Sponsor portfolio

We want to hear from you if:

  • You are studying for a degree that allows for a 3-month career placement or have graduated

  • Expected to achieve or have achieved a 2:1 (or equivalent) at undergraduate level in any degree discipline

  • You have a passion for finance with a keen interest in the private equity universe

  • You are fluent in a 2nd language (this is desirable but not essential)

  • You are available to start in September 2025

The role currently offers a hybrid working model, with a mandatory three days in your assigned office, and an optional two days from home. Citi supports this business model, subject to business approval.
