Overview

As the head of our US Commercial Real Estate Valuation team, you will lead a team of highly skilled CRE valuation specialists tasked with the independent review and challenge of real estate appraisals obtained in connection with Deutsche Bank’s US real estate lending activities. As part of the Credit Risk Management function, your knowledge of real estate is essential to our lending processes. You will interact directly with internal stakeholders regarding valuation matters, both within Risk and various loan origination teams across a broad spectrum of balance sheet lending and CMBS loan origination activities. In addition your role includes growing and managing the appraisal team, as well as managing the relationship with our AMC, third-party appraisal vendors and other external stakeholders including regulatory agencies and bank auditors. What You’ll Do

  • Lead a team of valuation specialists in the review of a high volume of complex real estate appraisals

  • Management of third-party appraisers and appraisal review vendors

  • Provide real estate valuation consulting and in-depth real estate market analysis

  • Lead the ongoing collateral monitoring of portfolio positions

  • Oversight of quality assurance and adherence to regulatory and policy compliance protocols, including maintenance of internal policies and procedures

  • Represent the team in constant interactions with key internal and external stakeholders

How You’ll Lead

  • Assume responsibility and accountability for delivery against the CRE Valuation team’s objectives, and ensure alignment with overarching goals of Credit Risk Management and the broader Risk organization

  • Provide strong team leadership while promoting accountability and empowerment within the CRE valuation team

  • Motivate the team to continue to perform at peak levels, assign workflows with creative scheduling to maximize staffing capacity

Skills You’ll Need

  • Member of the Appraisal Institute

  • State Licensed Real Estate Appraiser

  • Experience with broad range of property types across US markets

  • Proven team leadership skills

  • Ability to develop, advance, and create buy-in for constructive solutions to real estate problems

Skills That Will Help You Excel

  • Strong interpersonal skills, with ability to build internal and external client and stakeholder relationships

  • Deep understanding of real estate property types including specialty properties and markets

  • Sound understanding of bank regulatory framework for real estate collateral valuation

  • Confidence, drive and enthusiasm

  • Ability to uphold the valuation team’s standards in disagreements with stakeholders whilst maintaining a constructive dialog

Expectations

It is the Bank’s expectation that employees hired into this role will work in the New York office in accordance with the Bank’s hybrid working model.

The salary range for this position in New York City is $179,000 to $280,500. Actual salaries may be based on a number of factors including, but not limited to, a candidate’s skill set, experience, education, work location and other qualifications. Posted salary ranges do not include incentive compensation or any other type of remuneration.
