Team / Division Overview

DWS Communications, Brand & CSR is committed to strengthening the perception and reputation of DWS as one of the world’s premier asset managers. The team produces impactful and engaging content across internal and external channels, with a culture that is marked by performance, productivity, agility, collaboration, and the constant pursuit of improvement.

The team covers media relations, public affairs, social media and owned web channels, internal communications, corporate social responsibility, and brand. It brings together experts in the various professions with a focus on building and maintaining the DWS brand globally. This includes the development and execution of a comprehensive communication and brand strategy, as well as an editorial process focused on seamless and aligned content delivery via various owned, paid and earned channels. Their activities are aligned with the generation of shareholder value, through the contribution to AUM growth, pricing power, market penetration, and the ability to attract and retain exceptional talent.

Role Details

As a Communications Manager, you will (be):

  • Help drive the implementation of the global communication strategy and help shape the image and reputation of DWS

  • Work closely together and align with the teams’ central functions, from media relations, to social media, owned channels and brand activities

  • In coordination with broader global team, create a media relations program that aligns with business priorities

  • Build and nurture relationships with key financial media outlets and top-tier journalists to secure impactful coverage

  • Manage the media scheduling and the preparing of spokespeople for a range of various media activities

  • Identify new opportunities to raise the visibility of DWS’s profile as a thought leader in the U.S. asset management industry, in paid, owned, and earned media opportunities

  • Leverage generated media content together with the editorial team for social media, owned channels and internal communications

  • Oversee monthly reports that track media coverage and provide actionable insights

  • Provide quality functional support to Sales, Investment and Product teams in promoting the investment capability of the firm in U.S. through content positioning and repurposing

  • Handle media queries as and coordinate, when required, with the PR agency and the global media team

  • Organize and drive the successful delivery of online and offline events for media

We are looking for:

  • Graduate with 5-10 years of financial services background and 5+ years of relevant media experience, either as journalist, PR advisor, or corporate spokesperson

  • A team player who believes in collaboration yet independent enough to see through the execution of initiatives, campaigns and programmes

  • Excellent project management and multi-tasking skills to undertake a number of tasks and project concurrently while maintaining a keen eye for detail and a high degree of flexibility

  • A strong sense of responsibility and accountability

  • Confident in communicating with stakeholders at various levels throughout the firm

  • Excellent communication and writing skills

  • Established network in journalist community in the U.S. and good overview of media landscape in the Americas region

  • Comprehensive understanding of external media relations as integrated on- and offline- communication

  • Track-record in handling social media opportunities as part of media relations toolkit

  • An understanding of the asset management business and our client needs

License(s) required:

  • Series 7 FINRA License (or willingness to obtain within 12 months of hiring)

The salary range for this position in New York Is $82,000 to $143,000. Actual salaries may be based on a number of factors including, but not limited to, a candidate’s skill set, experience, education, work location and other qualifications. Posted salary ranges do not include incentive compensation or any other type of renumeration.
