We are looking for a highly skilled reliability engineer to provide critical support for the Rates desk with their trading and risk applications. In this role, you will ensure the reliability, performance, and scalability of real-time trading systems by applying Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) principles. You will engage directly with Traders, Strats, and Development teams to optimize trading workflows, troubleshoot complex issues, and drive continuous improvement in both processes and the environment.

The role is ideal for a problem solver who can thrive under pressure, balance technical ability with business acumen, and communicate effectively with the trading desks. The team follows technology policies for change, incident, and problem management with roles and responsibilities clearly defined. You will ensure that support procedures and activities are diligently followed and suitably documented.

As a senior member of the team, you will also ensure applications are maintained and monitored to provide a stable environment for all users. You will help develop and mentor junior team members to foster an engineering culture that seeks to automate and reduce manual effort to minimize risk and costs.

Your key responsibilities

  • Acting as the first line of defence for app trading systems, resolving production incidents promptly to minimise downtime and financial impact
  • Conducting root cause analysis and blameless post mortems, implementing or driving the solutioning of preventative measures for recurring issues
  • Providing clear communications to business and senior technologists on incidents and follow-ups
  • Owning improvements to Rates application health monitoring, and automation, driving down manual effort on your supported platforms
  • Driving cost optimisation and capacity resource management to ensure efficient use of resources and cost-effective solutions
  • Delivering both business and technology related benefits by aligning reliability engineering practices with business goals and partnering with developers to design and deploy scalable fault-tolerant solutions to meet evolving business needs

Your skills and experience

  • Substantial experience in reliability engineering and supporting front office business users in the financial services industry
  • Strong technical skills in Linux/Unix systems, SQL, and scripting
  • Experience with a programming language such as Python, Java, etc.
  • Knowledge of fixed income products (bonds, swaps), related market events, market data feeds (Reuters/Bloomberg), and an understanding of the trading lifecycle (order routing, execution, and settlement)
  • Experience with monitoring and observability tools (Prometheus, Grafana, Splunk, Geneos)
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
