Job Description:

Details of the Division and Team:

This role belongs to Investment Bank Operations in Deutsche Securities Inc. to cover multi products of Fixed income bond (yen and non yen bond etc) , OTC derivative product (ie IRS, CDS, LTFX) , Foreign Exchange, Investment Trust Fund and Equity. Investment Bank Operation team is the business enabling function (so call Middle office), which is responsible for trade capture, allocation, prematching and preconfirmation, novation and FOBO reconciliation, supporting both internal and external clients for Deutsche Securities Inc, Deutsche Bank AG Tokyo branch and other locations eg. London. External clients are mainly financial institutions including regional bank, trust banks and asset management, insurance, corporate, unlisted clients, and so on. This role is required to focus on FI Bond mainly but there can be opportunities to expand to other products as the team is cross covering multi asset class. This role is facing to the internal stakeholders / external clients / regulator and govemental body including Bank of Japan, therefore professional business Japanese capability is strongly required. As the majority of daily tasks were outsourced to offshore teams ie Manila and India, this role has to be accountable for the process quality and performance provided from offshore teams, and be responsible for overseeing the offshore team as part of the governance framework.

Your key responsibilities:

  • Supporting Investment Banking Business (Global Market Business) relating to Fixed income bond (yen and non-yen bond etc), OTC derivative product (ie IRS, CDS, LTFX), Foreign Exchange, Investment Trust Fund and Equity.
  • Be responsible for trade capture processing, ie allocation, pre-matching, preconfirmation, and reconciliation to be able to manage the trader’s position properly and ensure the smooth transaction data flow to back office systems for settlement.
  • Client facing – providing client service and managing client expectation
  • Be responsible for transaction processing exceptions and client issues management
  • Be responsible for meeting regulatory reporting requirements
  • Be accountable for end to end process and overseeing the offshore operation’s performance by monitoring the completeness of daily process.
  • Be responsible for issue management with off-shore operations team and follow-ups to ensure the transaction is completed within SLA,
  • Comply with all internal and external policies/guidelines and requirements of the regulators and to agreed SLAs and KPIs
  • Connect with regulators to discuss any regulatory requirement changes
  • Participate in projects related to regulatory and policy changes, ensure the process adhere to the requirements
  • Take part in the discussion for new business initiatives on new product approvals/ new transaction approvals.
  • Identify and escalate any operational, regulatory and other risks to line manager in timely manner; contributes to the development and implementation of mitigating or control solutions
  • Challenges and seeks alternative means to reduce cost and reduce risk
  • Cooperate with IT and project team in implementing changes in operation systems.
  • Working with regional stakeholders on operational process improvements, regulatory requirement and system changes

Your skills and experience:

  • Strong desire to learn the current operational flow and seek for more efficient workflow for further development
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills ( Japanese and English)
  • Ability to multi task
  • Ability to resolve issue with logical thought process
  • Ability to work under time pressure
  • Be willing to continuously invest in self-learning/training to stay abreast of constantly changing industry trends/ client requirements and new products/processes
  • Strong mindset to challenge for moving to next-gen platform and re-engineer current processes to
  • meet changing needs of the business.
  • (Preferable ) 5+ years’ experience in the investment banking industry in either Operations, middle office, or Project Management.
  • (Preferable) Direct Customer support / Client Service / Post Sales service experience preferred
  • (Preferable) Knowledge to have either of FI Bond, FX, Equity and OTC derivatives as product,
  • (Preferable) Some knowledge and exposure to digital tools will be useful, e.g. Alteryx, SQL, VBA,
  • Python programming. If not, strong desire to obtain such digital knowledge
  • Educated to University degree level or relevant work experience.
  • Must be native level Japanese, with strong verbal skills and written communication skills in English.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • A team player who can work effectively with people all at levels, and across all areas, to achieve the goals of the group.
  • Ability to cope well in a changing and challenging environment.
  • Self-starter with high energy and flexibility.
  • JSDA1 qualification holder preferred (preferable but will require to pass the exam when onboarded )
