The Market Conduct Office (MCO) is an opportunity to embed market conduct in business decisions, and to improve the efficiency, sustainability and transparency of Market Conduct controls management. Residing within the Front Office, reporting up into the Head of the Investment Bank, and will focus on providing governance and oversight for all Deutsche Bank activities related to market conduct.

MCO will promote resiliency and sustainability of the Market Conduct control environment and mitigate risks by overseeing and supporting the firm’s risk management, internal controls, governance, and culture relating to market conduct in order to foster trust and confidence in Deutsche Bank’s provision of financial services.

MCO strategically brings together the existing market conduct capabilities with the Firm’s overall risk management framework to complement existing processes and create efficiencies while ensuring central oversight.

You will support the implementation of a strategic and sustainable control oversight programme and be focusing on translating multiple sources of market conduct information (such as alerts, events and control improvements identified) into tangible actions to maintain a strong controls culture embedded into our Bank.

Your key responsibilities

  • Review findings management portfolio (identified through self-identified issues, audit, regulators, investigations) for market conduct impact and drive through to completion
  • Conduct root cause analysis and read across of identified issues to other businesses and divisions
  • Input, review and approve control design prior to implementation of controls enhancements
  • Conduct analysis of market conduct key control effectiveness across business lines and divisions
  • Conduct horizon scanning and impact assessment: emerging risks, external conduct events, new regulations/ laws, industry standards
  • Provide market conduct business advisory. Identify escalations needed to senior management and review the resolution of market conduct exceptions and alerts

Your skills and experience

  • Comprehensive understanding of financial markets and products
  • Experience in a non-financial risk management role in Banking and/or Global Markets in either 1st Line of Defence/Business Risk or Compliance roles
  • Experience of communicating with senior business management in person, within a large forum, and through email
  • Proven track record of design, delivery and oversight of future state controls
  • Proven track record of successfully working within diverse, high performing teams and departments both locally and remotely
