Team / Division Overview
Within established investment policy guidelines for Commodities and Natural Resources Equities, the analyst performs research analysis / views that support the formulation of investment strategies and enhance portfolio performance. To maximize risk-adjusted returns, s/he will leverage a deep understanding of idiosyncratic company drivers as well as industry trends and broader macroeconomic drivers. The analyst will conduct company due-diligence, research meetings and client meetings as required in support of asset management responsibilities.
Role Details
As a/an Analyst, you will (be):
Perform fundamental analysis, develop company financial models, build factor models, and conduct research meetings for natural resources companies
Develop commodities trade ideas via commodity-related derivatives, including index swaps, futures, and options for commodity futures
Deliver timely, high quality and authoritative research, to support the formulation of investment strategies and enhance portfolio performance
Provide insights and analysis, to the firm’s internal and/or external stakeholders, as applicable
Clearly communicate insights, analysis, and investment theses for commodities and equities to internal and/or external stakeholders, as applicable
Monitor portfolio performance, conduct performance analyses and produce reports
Perform supporting analytics, engage in projects and screen new opportunities
Enhance, adapt, and execute processes to maintain performance edge as markets evolve.
We are looking for:
Approximately 3 years of experience required in portfolio management, trading or research in equities, fixed income, currency, or commodity markets with a demonstrated passion for investing
Experience in either buy-side or sell-side equity research in natural resources highly preferred, and/or industry experience in mining, industrial materials, metals, packaging, or agricultural sectors
CFA or progression in CFA is desirable but not necessary
Familiarity with statistical and other quantitative data analysis methodologies
Strong command of fundamental and economic analysis
Well-versed in risk-management methodology and practices

The salary range for this position in Chicago is $137,000 to $240,000. Actual salaries may be based on a number of factors including, but not limited to, a candidate’s skill set, experience, education, work location and other qualifications. Posted salary ranges do not include incentive compensation or any other type of renumeration.
