You will operate in the IB CFO Planning and Performance management team, working closely with the IB businesses and infrastructure to understand the business, their performance, and the macro environment in which they operate. You will help the team develop a defined strategy with detailed financial and non-financial goals, identifying opportunities and creating the analytics to support decision-making.

The team is a key point of contact for certain external communications including the quarterly earnings disclosures and for various regulators, in understanding the IB business, performance and strategy.

The team is also the first point of contact for senior management across the bank in understanding IB performance which covers a wide spectrum of topics, which you will have the opportunity to be involved in.

Your key responsibilities

  • Assist the team in enhancing IB's performance analysis capability to support strategic decision making and planning that drive improvement in RoTE, CIR and other key metrics for the division.

  • Support the team in providing senior management with views of IB performance through a variety of lenses, covering in-year performance, performance over the cycle, future performance and client performance.

  • Create and present a clear and consistent strategic narrative supported by analytics that provides a link between year-to-date performance (financial and non-financial), the IB’s strategy and the overall market environment that is suitable for external communication (i.e. to regulators).

  • Key systems that will be used in your role include GGL and Dart Essbase.

Your skills and experience

  • Proficient in Excel, with strong analytical skills to help in understanding business performance across the division and in identifying relevant trends.

  • Advanced PowerPoint skills to ensure clear presentations are provided to senior management.

  • Good communication and stakeholder management skills to ensure strong partnership across numerous areas of the bank.

  • A good approach to problem solving, with the ability to think on your feet and propose solutions.

  • Prior experience with GGL and Dart Essbase systems, use of VBA and familiarity with AI would all be beneficial but are not essential.
