What is the position? Evercore seeks to hire a VP of Physical Security located in New York, NY.
Primary Responsibilities: We’re seeking a VP of Physical Security who will report to the US Head of Corporate Security and support the operational oversight and execution of the firm’s physical security and risk management programs across the United States. This role ensures the security and resiliency of personnel, facilities, and assets while fostering employee safety and positive workplace experiences. The VP will manage service providers, conduct risk assessments, develop programs, and support crisis and incident management.
The ideal candidate is an experienced leader in corporate security operations with strong interpersonal and decision-making skills, capable of influencing senior leadership while ensuring compliance with corporate policies and security best practices. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:
Leadership & Strategic Support
- Support the Head of Physical Security in executing firmwide security strategy, including physical security, incident management, crisis response, and business continuity.
- Act as delegate for the Head of Security in meetings, representing the function with internal and external stakeholders.
- Collaborate with executives, site leaders, and cross-functional teams to improve compliance and enhance employee experience.
Operational Oversight
- Oversee daily security operations across multiple US corporate offices, including guard services, access control, CCTV/alarm monitoring, and vendor management.
- Lead regional security and safety audits, vulnerability assessments, and follow-up remediation activities.
- Manage contracts, budgets, vendor performance, and security system operations.
Incident & Crisis Management
- Serve as a primary responder for security incidents, ensuring timely escalation and reporting.
- Maintain readiness for emergency procedures, drills, and continuity of operations.
- Partner with law enforcement, emergency services, and local agencies to support investigations and coordinated responses.
Program Development & Compliance
- Develop and refine policies, procedures, and performance metrics for security and safety.
- Align site-level security objectives with corporate guidelines and global standards.
- Ensure compliance with safety regulations, incident reporting, and health & safety assessments.
Training & Engagement
- Create and deliver training programs in emergency response, incident management, and security awareness.
- Conduct new employee security orientation.
- Promote a culture of vigilance and shared responsibility.
Event & Special Project Security
- Provide security support for corporate events, projects, and office buildouts.
- Oversee safety and security planning for high-profile events.
Specific Qualifications:
- 7+ years of related experience in corporate security, law enforcement, or public safety, including at least 5 years in security management.
- Strong background in physical security systems, incident response, crisis management, and vendor oversight.
- Prior experience in financial services or technology industries preferred. Excellent judgment with the ability to assess threats, escalate appropriately, and influence leadership decisions.
- Strong communication skills (written, verbal, and presentation).
- Proven track record in program management, budgeting, and cross-functional collaboration.
- High attention to detail, organizational strength, and ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Customer service–oriented mindset with ability to balance security requirements and employee experience.
- Bachelor’s degree required; advanced security certifications (CPP, PSP, CEM) a plus.
- Familiarity with surveillance, access control, and alarm systems.
- Must be based in or willing to relocate to the NYC metro area.
- Availability for after-hours response to critical incidents.
- This position requires valid United States work authorization and is not eligible for visa sponsorship.
