Value Accelerator
The Value Accelerator (“VA”) is a critical component of the Asset Management Division investing strategy at Goldman Sachs. Goldman Sachs has a leading private equity franchise as part of its Alternatives platform which is focused on acquiring and growing middle-market companies across diverse sectors.
In close partnership with the corporate, growth, infrastructure and credit investment teams, the VA contributes to the success of our portfolio companies throughout the investment lifecycle from pre-investment diligence, to scaling growth, to optimizing exit strategies. The VA team works with experienced senior executives, best-in-class professional services providers, and innovative technology providers to deliver programs and services that add value to our portfolio companies in key areas including Finance & Strategy, Go-to-Market, Operational Excellence, Talent & Organizational Design, Sustainability Optimization, and Technology, Data & AI. As a member of the VA, you will work with VA global lead of finance and operations as well as the VA core global team to help support deal teams, operating advisors, and senior stakeholders whose mission is to drive value creation initiatives for our portfolio companies.
Role Overview
VA Advisors represent a group of talented and experienced senior executives who advise GS portfolio companies in key industry and functional areas as a critical component of the VA operating model. The VA’s finance and operations team supports and assists in the execution of processes for the advisor community. The team services the full life cycle of an advisor engagement from initial onboarding to invoicing to data monitoring on advisor impact. With our growing advisor community and global footprint expansion, the VA is looking for an Associate to work with the VA global lead who is based in New York and the operations team who are based in India in overseeing these processes commercially, efficiently, and consistently across the firm’s platform of applications and in accordance with firm & fund mandates.
Responsibilities
- Support and assist in the execution of processes for the high-touch advisor network
- Liaise with GS teams in the onboarding of advisors and other third parties through life cycle of engagements
- Ongoing maintenance and governance of advisor engagements including but not limited to:
- Billing process oversight & exception management
- Renewal of engagements and risk review
- Compliance with allocation and travel and entertainment guidelines
- Tracking of board participation and compensation
- Assist with documentation on co-invest opportunities
- Help to maintain data in the portal related to advisors as well as deal level information and support management reporting
- Run key monthly reporting and distribute to senior stakeholder
- Partner of the development of exception management reporting and analytics of engagements
- Monitor advisors’ portfolio company engagements and report on key operational and impact metrics, to help VA core team to better understand the effectiveness of engagements, and find new opportunities to drive impact
- Support other initiatives in the pipeline, advisor deployment, resourcing and performance reviews, as well as assist with community events and content creation
- Lean in on additional capabilities as we scale, develop and expand the team and products
Qualifications
- Over 3 years of client-service and operations experience in financial services, professional services, hospitality, retail, or related field with a customer-first attitude
- Bachelor’s degree in business, accounting, or a related field
- Prior experience in Asset Management or Private Equity highly preferred
- Strong project management, organizational skills, and attention to detail
- Ability to work well with diverse stakeholder groups globally
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Ability to manage, organize, and analyze high volumes of information
- Team player, willing to help in areas not explicitly related to job description
- Good judgement, independent thinker, resourceful and able to meet tight deadlines
- Ability to prioritize and handle multiple tasks independently, efficiently, and effectively
- Proficient in MS Outlook, Word, Excel (including pivot tables and VLOOKUP), PowerPoint, Zoom
- Experience with high volumes of data, using Alteryx, Tableau, and other data tools
- Highest degree of integrity, professionalism, diplomacy, and discretion required
Salary Range
The expected base salary for this New York, New York, United States-based position is $150000-$225000. In addition, you may be eligible for a discretionary bonus if you are an active employee as of fiscal year-end.
