Your Impact
As a Vice President within the Public Investing (PI) Management and Strategy team, you will serve as a critical architect of the platform’s future, focusing on high-priority transformation initiatives and enabling execution of top business priorities. Public Investing is the primary investing engine of Goldman Sachs, overseeing over $3 trillion in assets under supervision (AUS) across Fixed Income, Fundamental Equity, Quantitative Investment Strategies (QIS), QES and Multi-Asset solutions.
In this leadership capacity, you will be responsible for driving the strategic evolution of the platform through a focus on the Operating Platform Uplift, including the data strategy and AI strategy. You will move beyond high-level analysis to own the delivery of high-stakes initiatives, navigating across multiple investment teams to tackle shared challenges. A key component of this role is the ability to understand the financial and commercial impact of business decisions, using those insights to inform the firm’s decision-making process and ensure the product roadmap is executed with precision and speed.
Principal Responsibilities:
This is a high-impact, high-visibility role requiring a seasoned leader who can operate at the intersection of investment strategy, technological innovation, and operational transformation.
Strategic Execution & Transformation
- Orchestrate Strategic Objectives: Lead the end-to-end orchestration of strategic objectives, execution, and performance monitoring to ensure the PI business mandate is met.
- Platform & AI Transformation: Drive large-scale business transformation initiatives related to Platform Uplift and Data Strategy. Act as a lead for AI Adoption and Advocacy, leveraging digital automation to modernize the PI platform and improve speed-to-market.
- Vision to Delivery: Translate high-level strategic vision into operational delivery and excellence, ensuring that complex business goals are converted into actionable, scalable workflows.
Governance & Operational Excellence
- Governance & Prioritization: Establish rigorous governance and prioritization frameworks for critical engineering and operational initiatives, ensuring resources are aligned with the most impactful business priorities.
- Cross-Divisional Collaboration: Drive cross-divisional collaboration with Sales, Engineering, Legal, and Compliance to optimize processes and find efficiencies that scale across the global organization.
- Engineering & Product Partnership: Collaborate closely with Engineering, Product, and Ops teams to enhance transparency and scale business capabilities, resolving structural or operational bottlenecks that impede growth.
Business Development & Commercial Insight
- Product Innovation: Enable new product development and identify market opportunities, specifically focusing on the expansion of investment vehicles and platform capabilities.
- Commercial Decision Making: Analyze and communicate the financial and commercial impact of business decisions to senior leadership, providing data-driven insights that shape the strategic direction of the PI business.
- KPI & Performance Governance: Establish and oversee the metrics for success across strategic initiatives, providing firm leadership with transparent reporting on progress against financial and commercial goals.
Required Skills and Experience:
- Experience: 7-10+ years of experience in Asset Management, Transformation, Operations, or Corporate Strategy, with a proven track record of executing complex business initiatives and data-driven strategies.
- Commercial Acumen: Strong ability to understand and model the financial and commercial impacts of strategic business decisions.
- Execution Mindset: A "delivery-first" approach with the ability to manage multiple high-priority workstreams in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment.
- Leadership & Influence: Exceptional interpersonal skills with the ability to influence senior Partners and Managing Directors across different functional areas and investment teams.
- Problem Solving: Advanced ability to operate in ambiguity and navigate the "gray space" of a global organization to find creative solutions to institutional hurdles.
Salary Range
The expected base salary for this New York, New York, United States-based position is $125000-$250000. In addition, you may be eligible for a discretionary bonus if you are an active employee as of fiscal year-end.
