Job Description
The Business Strategy & Development team is a fully integrated team of Client Portfolio Managers (CPMs) and Product Managers, created to support and service our investment capabilities across diversified channels and regions. The team’s purpose is to maximize franchise value through best-in-class product positioning, leading as client advocates, and implementing business plans to drive organic growth, profitability, and asset retention.

The Associate Product Manager is a key role within the Product Management / Client Portfolio Management team responsible for the ownership of internal reporting and content creation, being a subject matter expert with respect to the set of investment strategies the team represents, and a driver of research related to product/competitive trends. The individual also supports the product managers by liaising with legal, compliance, marketing and other departments to help with content and other potential issues. Strong communication and organizational skills are core requirements for the position and the Associate Product Manager must have strong technical skills and attention to detail.
The individual should strive to be regarded as a credible source of information and perspective for both fundamental and macro-economic factors affecting the team’s strategies. They must be viewed as a subject matter expert on investment and product issues pertaining to their strategies. The key to success in this role is demonstrating strong attention to detail and ability to collaborate with various groups to ultimately deliver a superior experience for our clients.
Key Responsibilities / Duties:
The Product Associate will be responsible for supporting a set of investment strategies across geographic markets and retail and institutional channels.
Product & Investments Expertise
Work closely with the team’s product managers and CPMs to become knowledgeable of each product to develop, maintain, and enhance collateral produced by the team, such as factsheets, commentaries, infographics, among others.
Assist with the completion of client/consultant requested RFIs, DDQs, RFPs, and other ad hoc client requests.
Support third party database teams by ensuring product information is uploaded and showing accurately in third party databases
Create competitive intelligence reports on the competitor landscape and peer groups of our strategies, and assist product managers with competitive positioning commentary.
Cultivating strong, trusting partnerships with teams across the firm and providing connectivity with the team
Leveraging technology and firmwide capabilities to deliver efficiently and effectively for our clients
Distribution & Marketing Support
In partnership with the Client Portfolio Managers and investment team, develop a message for clients and prospects re: the investment capabilities of the team’s various strategies. This includes playing a prominent role in creating and reviewing marketing and meeting materials, and providing regular communications, analysis and insights to our Sales team for use with clients.
Brainstorm and support the implementation of effective product marketing initiatives designed to build sales momentum and/or defend a critical investment franchise.
Support distribution training, large conferences, client meetings. Manage the ongoing internal and external experience for our products and work with Marketing to support fund specific content.
Liaise with the firm’s various marketing and RFP teams to ensure all data and responses regarding a given product are accurate and appropriate.
Assist with quarterly investment commentaries and regulatory commentary content.
Skills / Personal Attributes Required:
2 – 8 years of related experience in financial services.
Entrepreneurial spirit, with a focus on continuous improvement, willingness to take risks, embrace and lead change, determination to find creative solutions to problems. Strong attention to detail, work ethic, and drive to succeed.
Technical skills, including strong investment acumen, understanding of financial markets and economics, proficiency with Bloomberg, Microsoft Office, Morningstar and other software products.
Passion for the industry and capital markets is a must.
High motivation and drive to continue learning about financial markets, asset management industry, and investment strategies.
Highly developed communication skills, both written and verbal.
Good people and interpersonal skills.
May be expected travel occasionally.
Formal Education:
Undergraduate degree required, preferably in business or related discipline.
MBA/CFA preferred.
Series 7 and 63 are a plus.
The salary range for this position in New York is $90,000 - $110,000 annually. The total compensation offered for this position includes salary and incentive pay and will vary based on skills, experience, and location.
