Job Description

The Department

The Invesco Private Markets (IPM) accounting team is responsible for investor, fund and account level financial reporting, management of the fund treasury process, coordination of annual audits, and coordination and review of investor and fund level tax filing requirements for real estate, debt, and private equity funds. The IPM accounting team is also involved acquisitions and dispositions and coordination with joint venture partners, third party service provides and property management companies.

Your Role

The Assistant Controller is responsible for the financial reporting and oversight of certain client real estate, private equity, credit strategy portfolios and/or Fund products. This person supports the Controller and oversees Sr. Accountants and Hyderabad personnel on assigned client accounts.

You will be responsible for:

  • Overseeing Senior Accountants on assigned portfolios and performing higher level risk-based review on a monthly/quarterly basis prior to final review performed by Controller, including setup and accounting for complex multi-tier investments.

  • Serving as primary point of contact for Portfolio and Asset Management for all accounting related matters on assigned portfolios.

  • Working with Product Management department to answer/provide information for current and prospective investors.

  • Coordination, preparation, and timely completion of all audit reports and tax returns for portfolios.

  • Review of consultant reports prepared by accounting department.

  • Oversight of third-party managers who provide accounting services on assigned portfolios.

  • Analyzing and coordinating the completion of performance returns, advisory, incentive and acquisition/disposition fees on investments.

  • Analyzing cash positions and ensuring excess cash distributions are made timely in accordance with the respective Investment Management or Partnership Agreements.

  • Assisting in the design and analysis of information received during the annual PMC internal audit process.

  • Participating and raising potential accounting concerns in meetings with Legal/Closings during the acquisition and disposition process.

  • Working with other departments on the acquisition and disposition of portfolio investments as appropriate.

  • Demonstrating leadership skills by volunteering for special projects in the department.

The experience you bring:

  • Bachelors or Masters degree in accounting/finance

  • CPA preferred

  • Five or more years related work experience. Private Equity, Real estate and/or joint partnership accounting background a plus.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office. Experience with Yardi and/or Investran software a plus.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

  • Self motivated, organized and flexible
