Job Description
Your Role
The OFCFO Advanced Principal is responsible for providing leadership and expertise for Invesco’s global Office of the Funds’ CFO (“OFCFO”) activities in establishing and maintaining consistent financial rigor in the ongoing administration of all product lines, with an emphasis in North America. In this role the individual will collaborate with others in Global Fund Governance & Administration and IDS to deliver a superior client investment experience. The Advanced Principal will support regional and global strategy within the OFCFO, including team leadership (directly and/or indirectly), new business development, continuous improvement, and world class execution that drives a robust and differentiated client experience (for our external clients and internal business partners). The team will have staff located in North America and will expand globally over time. This Advanced Principal will work closely with Global Fund Governance & Administration and Investment and Distribution Services (“IDS”) colleagues, other Invesco business partners in marketing, product, distribution, client service, compliance, legal, and other functions as required to execute their accountability.
You Will Be Responsible For:
Manage processes that support the establishment, execution and maintenance of Global Fund Governance & Administration practices and controls, including the Global Fund Governance & Administration Risk and Assurance framework, providing comfort to the Office of the Funds’ CFO and Fund Officers, identifying and escalating areas of concern and emerging risks. Supports assuring appropriate remediation by functional teams.
Collaborate with applicable Global Fund Governance & Administration functional team members and OFCFO to assist in developing and implementing a global approach to the formulation, oversight, governance, and maintenance of controls and activities to ensure consistent financial rigor and support for all product lines.
Chair, co-chair or participate in various OFCFO sub-committees. Coordinates with chairs of other OFCFO sub-committees to assess and address cross-committee findings.
May direct OFCFO principals or staff in executing OFCFO activities. Uses influence to indirectly manage sub-committees.
Support and understand research and interpretation of relevant industry regulation, requirements and guidance.
Assist in overall management of fund independent auditors including independence monitoring.
Assist in supporting board relationships and the coordination of well documented, accurate and timely board materials. Prepares or reviews various periodic financial reports to the Fund Boards and various recommendations requiring Board approval.
Represent Global Fund Governance & Administration and OFCFO in meetings or on committees as applicable.
Contribute to department’s vision in alignment with the overall Company strategy. Supports short and long-term business goals to promote financially sound business practices.
Periodically represent Invesco in industry-wide topical discussions with peer groups and professional organizations.
Responsibilities include (but not limited to) providing coaching and guidance to teams and Global Fund Governance & Administration sub-committees, directly or indirectly; propagating an ‘always learning mindset’ that utilizes a risk-based lens to focus the team’s assurance efforts; developing and facilitating on the job training; and other leadership activities required to provide the team with focus on delivering highest quality experiences, industry knowledge, product knowledge, and technical awareness. Additionally, a risk based, controls focused assurance mindset should be cultivated across the team.
Participation in IDS sponsored talent initiatives (i.e., mentoring program, leadership training and programs, career framework, etc.)
Leverages knowledge to lead the OFCFO strategy, to include thoughts on ways to continuously innovate and improve the functions. The OFCFO Advanced Principal will productively question traditional/historical approaches with the intention of further evolving the organization to better meet/exceed client needs within the Global Fund Governance & Administration Risk and Assurance Framework.
Ability to execute complex transformation programs and projects, remaining transparent with leadership and stakeholders. Familiarity with techniques to support speedy execution and continual delivery of business results (e.g., Agile methodology, capabilities-driven planning).
Change management, updates to operating procedures, locating tasks in the right global locations, and working with colleagues in technology and other operations teams to create efficiencies and quality improvements will be required.
Familiarity with continuous improvement approaches (e.g., business process design, management, and optimization); organization design; and use of technology including automation and workflow tools) is essential.
Serve as a subject matter expert on OFCFO matters, providing input into the Global Fund Governance & Administration advisory and assurance models
Partner with product teams to bring innovate products to market, with speed, that serve Invesco clients
Participates actively in applicable committees, meetings and sub-committees
Partners with Global Fund Governance & Administration teams to create solutions for challenges that arise, focusing on overall outcome as a priority.
Manages processes that deal with change and improvements. Requires collaboration, partnership and coordination with various functions across the firm including technology team(s).
Works with various technology groups and external providers to accomplish department objectives.
The Experience You Bring:
6 Years of experience, doing financial reporting, accounting, audit, or risk and controls
Exposure and experience in accounting, preferably in the asset management industry and multinational firm
Experience leading people and process management experience is highly desirable
Experience executing effective change management, leading others through transformational change
Experience in building and maintaining collaborative working relationships with internal clients to understand their business needs
Knowledge of business risk and operating procedures and controls
Understanding of investment operations, knowledge of institutional and retail businesses with Invesco (or similar) product lines, regulatory issues, systems, and support procedures and controls
Understanding of technology (e.g., industry platforms, data tools, portals, workflow, automation), digital savvy
Excellent verbal and written communications
Bachelors degree in Accounting or Finance required, Masters degree a plus
