Job Description

About the Team:

The portfolio performance analytics team provides administrative and analytical support to PMs, which can include monitoring portfolio performance, conducting statistical analyses, assembling and reviewing data, completing performance attribution analyses, monitoring cash flows and maintaining target allocations.

About the Role:

Responsible for leading the performance function of the local team and ensuring the investment performance data produced by the team is timely, accurate and follows procedure. Ensure team workflow and projects align with overall team priorities. Engage in complex analyses or interpretations on topics such as portfolio / benchmark performance results, attribution, and technical matters pertaining to GIPS or primary software systems utilized. Lead and execute special projects or initiatives communicating with internal clients and senior management on a global scale. Able to derive and implement sound, pragmatic solutions to complex performance-related issues. Must effectively manage deadlines, client expectations, and ensure best practice is maintained across the department.

Responsibilities of the Role:

  • Oversee and ensure performance responsibilities are met accurately and timely. Ensure adequate controls, policies and procedures are in place and adhered to.
  • Act as an expert with the Global Investment Performance Standards (GIPS) and provide training across the organization as necessary. Active member of the GIPS Steering Committee and GIPS Response Team. Attends industry forums to stay current on GIPS. Manage annual verification process with verifier.
  • Maintain systems and databases to ensure completeness, accuracy and integrity of static and time series data for assigned portfolios, benchmarks, or other information. Ensure adequate controls, policies and procedures are in place and adhered to around systems and databases. Maintain key relationships with data vendors.
  • Provide technical expertise and oversight for complex issues related to performance calculations. Approve any calculations prepared outside of base systems.
  • Prepare, interpret and investigate anomalies with attribution and contribution reports. Understand various attribution models and relevance. Make suggestions for improvement to attribution and contribution support, reporting, or systems as necessary.
  • Regular direct interaction with clients to research, analyze and resolve complex queries and analyses. Represent team in client meetings.
  • Serve as subject matter expert in performance and responsibility for local team in the pursuit of quality control.
  • Identify need for, coordinate and lead special projects for clients or for process improvements/efficiencies.
  • Able to handle and resolve complex performance issues.
  • Serve as technical expert on performance so as to provide commentary and qualitative information around performance results. Provide oversight and review function to any commentary produced by team.
  • Manage, negotiate and make decisions regarding complex issues involving GIPS and other performance related issues.
  • Development of the department’ strategy, goals and objectives.
  • Liaise with international business units, other divisions and members of Investment Risk to understand evolving business needs, communicate performance team needs, and/or provide information and data to meet broader Invesco objectives.

Requirements of the Role:

  • A minimum of 7-10 years of experience in the investment management industry is preferred.
  • Completion of a Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics, Finance, Accounting, Marketing or a related field is required. It is also necessary to understand industry regulations governing the investment management industry and related compliance procedures.
  • Pursuit or completion of CIPM, CIMA, CFA, CPA, CFP, ACCA or ACA designations encouraged.
  • Must demonstrate skilled knowledge of performance measurement and related rules and regulations surrounding the securities industry.
  • Must demonstrate excellent supervisory skills and have experience with leading and successfully completing projects to deadline and within any budgetary constraints.
  • Possess a high aptitude of analytical and mathematical skills which are required for calculating, reviewing and disseminating performance information.
  • Must show superior customer service by generating and responding to client requests in a timely manner as well have the interpersonal skills to interact with both internal and external clients.
  • Proficient in the use of third-party financial industry databases and Microsoft Office.
