Join Macquarie’s Commodities and Global Markets trading team as a Data Science summer intern located in Houston, Texas. In this part of our business, you will partner with our power trading desk to provide data science and analytic solutions that maximize opportunities for the trade floor.

What role will you play?

As part of this summer internship, you will sit as part of the trade desk and leverage the data and technical tools at Macquarie to improve our research in commodity market fundamentals. You will support senior traders with wrangling data, building models, use machine learning, doing back tests and providing results to traders and senior analysts. You will use your python, R, and machine learning knowledge to support possible trading opportunities and maintain, update and improve trading and analysis tools.

While Macquarie offers hybrid working for many of our roles, this role does require 5 days a week in our Houston office location.

This internship is for students expecting to graduate between December 2026 – June 2027 and must be able to work full-time from May – August 2025
Computer Science focused on data science. machine learning, or equivalent. Must be skilled in R or Python. Skills in Excel, SQL, machine learning, statistics, and back testing are optional, but preferred
You are a critical thinker with strong numerical skills and can articulate your thoughts and ideas clearly
You like to collaborate with others and are comfortable building strong working relationships
You have an interest in financial services and bring a proactive, resourceful, and positive attitude as well as a strong work ethic.
