Futures provides a full range of execution, clearing and financing solutions to corporate and institutional clients, providing continuous 24-hour coverage of major markets globally. As the Chief Operating Officer of our business, you will serve as the internal backbone of the division, operationalising the Futures Strategy and ensuring its close alignment with the broader Commodities and Global Markets strategy to create coherence and connectivity across the group.

What role will you play?

You will work closely with our Division Head to provide strategic and operational leadership for our Futures business, shaping the operating model and driving initiatives that enable growth, efficiency, and alignment with the broader Commodities and Global Markets strategy. You will oversee end-to-end operational performance, risk management, and regulatory compliance, ensuring resilient processes, strong governance, and high quality delivery across the trade lifecycle. You will also manage financial discipline, data integrity, and cross functional partnerships to support profitability, operational excellence, and sustained business performance.
In this role you will also lead the design and execution of strategic initiatives, including digital transformation, regulatory change, and major cross functional programs, requiring strong partnerships with technology, operations, risk, finance, and external service providers to ensure seamless delivery across the full trade lifecycle. You will be accountable for the efficiency, resilience, and performance of core processes, from execution through to settlement, supported by clear Key Performance Indicators, data driven decision making, and a culture of accountability. You will also oversee client onboarding effectiveness for institutional and corporate clients, balancing rigorous controls with speed to market.
As the Futures Chief Operating Officer, you will act as a steward of risk and governance. This includes maintaining strong operational resilience, ensuring high quality regulatory reporting, safeguarding margin and collateral integrity, and leading Futures governance forums, audits, and regulatory interactions. Financially, you will manage resource allocation, cost discipline, and the integrity of data that underpins pricing, credit, and risk analytics, contributing directly to the profitability and sustainability of our business.

What you offer

  • Experience in designing and implementing scalable operating models that support growth in platform services and new product initiatives in highly regulated environments
  • Strong understanding of Listed Derivatives trade lifecycle management from front-office execution through to back-office settlement
  • Ability to manage critical relationships with supporting functions e.g. Technology, Risk, Compliance, Legal, Operations and external vendor services to foster a culture of accountability
  • Proven leadership through regulatory transitions and large-scale digital transformations
  • Experience establishing and monitoring Key Performance Indicators on a regional or global scale
  • Experience managing revenue generating and operational expenses efficiencies with associated management information to achieve profitability targets.
