Join our legal team in Macquarie’s Banking and Financial Services group. This role supports the Corporate and Institutional Banking team who sit within the Business Banking division and you will play a key role in ensuring that legal risk is effectively managed in its lending business.

What role will you play?

The role involves providing specialised transactional support and advice to the corporate and leveraged finance team and the commercial property group who make up Corporate & Institutional Banking. You will work on large and complex transactions including leveraged and acquisition finance, commercial property finance, investment grade lending and corporate finance.

You will work closely with the business and credit teams in negotiating and settling the finance documents (including briefing and working alongside external counsel), reviewing and preparing term sheets, conducting legal due diligence and providing legal training to the business and credit teams.

What you offer

  • 5-6 years’ PQE gained within private practice at a top tier law firm, or an in-house legal team aligned to institutional banking
  • Experience in corporate and leveraged finance and property banked lending is essential and ideally you will also have experience in lending to REITs and investment grade borrowers and project finance
  • Strong drafting and negotiation skills
  • Ability to understand risks specific to various industry segments
  • Excellent communication skills to effectively manage and deliver outcomes with internal stakeholders
  • Exceptional attention to detail coupled with strong project management skills
  • A collaborative, team-oriented approach with a positive and growth mindset.
