MS conducts its business through three principal business segments—Institutional Securities (ISG), Wealth Management (WM), and Investment Management (IM).
The U.S. Banks (the Banks) represent an important strategic asset for the Firm with opportunities to drive earnings and business growth across WM and ISG by offering lending solutions, cash management, and deposit products to deepen client relationships.
The U.S Banks Strategy and Execution team’s primary mission is to partner across the organization to evaluate, design, and lead the execution of Bank’s key initiatives and growth plans. We also manage important Bank governance activities by coordinating the development of the annual Strategy & Business Plans; conduct competitor analysis, benchmarking, and reporting to Bank leadership; support project execution in partnership with the Program Management Office (PMO) team; and administration through our Business Management function.
Role & Responsibilities:
Support Head of MSBNA Lending & Trading Products in day-to-day management of all ISG businesses including:
- Fixed Income Secured Lending (FID)
- Commercial Real Estate Lending (FID)
- Equity Financing (IED/GCM)
- Corporate Relationship & Event Lending (IBD/GCM)
- Municipal Lending (FID)
- Structured Margin Financing (FID)
- Rates and FX Trading (FID)
- Residential Whole Loan Trading (FID)
- Leveraged Loan Trading (FID)
Collaborate with teams across ISG functions to help create processes to support the implementation of ISG management’s strategic initiatives as it relates to lending and derivatives
Assist with management of cross functional initiatives between ISG businesses and various functional units (finance, treasury, risk, etc.) at the Banks
Work closely with professionals throughout ISG to research materials and draft presentations for Bank Management and the U.S. Banks Board of Directors
- Including the Annual Bank Strategic Plan document which details MSBNA’s 3-year financial and strategic direction for the Board and Regulators
Perform financial, strategic, and competitive analysis for ISG’s businesses and divisions
Assist the Head of MSBNA Lending & Trading Products in prioritizing and staying on top of daily workflow streams (e.g., Managing key new lending & derivative products migrating onto MSBNA)
Attend various senior management meetings and conferences

Preferred Skills:

• Analytical thinker with a thoughtful approach to problem solving and data interpretation
• Strong PowerPoint skills (and excel to a lesser extent)
• High level of attention to detail
• Proactive, organized planner with the ability to multi-task and prioritize numerous work streams
• Ability to establish personal relationships and effectively navigate the Firm
• Integrity and experience handling sensitive and confidential information
• Presence and maturity in the company of senior management
• Interest in understanding Morgan Stanley’s industry, businesses, and the role of the U.S. Banks within the Firm

Expected base pay rates for the role will be between $60,000 and $90,000 per year at the commencement of employment. However, base pay if hired will be determined on an individualized basis and is only part of the total compensation package, which, depending on the position, may also include commission earnings, incentive compensation, discretionary bonuses, other short and long-term incentive packages, and other Morgan Stanley sponsored benefit programs.

*Expanded legislation requires that roles that sit in other state locations, but report to a manager in NY, must have the above language included in postings with the pay scale reflective appropriately to the location where the role will be sitting.
