Morgan Stanley Investment Research is uniquely committed to being an essential part of our clients' investment process. Through relevant and timely conversations with leading investors, we focus resources on risk-reward essentials: identifying the investor debates, assessing the potential outcomes, and uncovering the evidence our clients need to validate their investment decisions. POSITION DESCRIPTION
We are seeking an analyst-level or associate-level candidates to work in our Research Risk team. This team helps Morgan Stanley Research deliver on its mission by increasing efficiencies, strengthening governance structures, and enhancing operational, conduct and reputational risk frameworks in a globally consistent manner.

This small yet impactful team supports the execution of day-to-day risk functions and work with global colleagues to manage the successful resolution of risk issues.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

The successful candidate will possess a positive attitude and team spirit for working alongside members of the offshore global risk team, engaging closely with the senior risk managers team, and helping to conduct day to day risk operational needs. This includes liaising with key partnership teams globally in executing policy/protocols as defined by the department. Finally, the candidate will also support senior risk managers with documentation and technical writing as policy changes impact processes.

Responsibilities will include but are not limited to:

  • Supporting the execution of day-to-day risk functions including:
  • Employee trade pre-clearance and statement review
  • Outside business interest’s review
  • Public appearance review
  • E-communications surveillance
  • Conflict disclosure surveillance
  • Work with global colleagues to manage the successful resolution of risk issues and escalations, including identifying the root causes of the issue, ensuring accountability and establishing the right contacts and escalation points
  • Produce risk metrics and trend analysis for management
  • Maintain and develop operational procedure documentation; track and report results and work to standardize processes
  • Collaborate with Research Legal and Compliance regarding policies, processes, and requirements
  • Implement project and product roadmaps for key Research Risk tools and processes
  • Bachelor’s degree in operations, finance, or equivalent experience in related field
  • Relative experience in operations industry
  • Excellent writing, communication, and interpersonal skills
  • Experience across Microsoft platforms, Zoom, Teams
  • Experience in process documentation and/or technical writing
  • Ability to multi-task, be proactive, and work independently (self-starter mentality)
  • Collaborative attitude and team spirit are vital
  • Ability to balance various initiatives and deadlines simultaneously
  • Strong problem solving/critical thinking skills with an appetite for technology and automation
  • Motivated self-starter with a sensitivity to detail and accuracy
  • Comfortable working in a large organization and interfacing with a broad set of stakeholders across various functions

Expected base pay rates for the role will be between $120,000 and $200,000 per year for Associate level, at the commencement of employment. However, base pay if hired will be determined on an individualized basis and is only part of the total compensation package, which, depending on the position, may also include commission earnings, incentive compensation, discretionary bonuses, other short and long-term incentive packages, and other Morgan Stanley sponsored benefit programs.
