The Analytics & Data (A&D) team within Morgan Stanley Wealth Management Client Solutions Group owns all the management reporting, customer and product behavior insights, and predictive modeling in support of Wealth Management, Banking, and Firmwide Marketing. The team focuses on high-impact initiatives identified in partnership with senior executives and leaders throughout the firm.
We are searching for an Assistant Vice President to join the Client Engagement Products team, as part of the A&D Strategy team. The incumbent will be responsible for leveraging Morgan Stanley Wealth Management’s data, analytics and machine learning capabilities to empower business critical use-cases across marketing, sales, servicing, advisory, and other. The ideal candidate would act as a product owner and business architect, perform extensive hands-on analysis, experimentations, evaluation, and testing to design new client engagement data products or new features/components for existing products, define detailed requirements, and drive the implementation. The candidate would have expertise in data wrangling and analysis, machine learning concepts, data organization/design, and architecting scalable solutions. They must also possess strong analytical and problem-solving skills and be adept at collaborating with stakeholders across teams (especially with business partners and technology) to drive business outcomes.
A primary focus of this role will be to oversee a program aimed at bringing the best-in class analytics and marketing practices to a unified, data driven Marketing orchestration platform working closely with WM Marketing, Machine Learning & Marketing Analytics teams.
Responsibilities:
-Design, build, and manage state-of-the-art centralized client engagement products and capabilities leveraging data, analytics and AI, to drive critical business use-cases across marketing, sales, servicing, advisory, and more
-Perform detailed hands-on experimentations and evaluations for Wealth Management use-cases using real customer data, to develop and test data products/features/stores
-Own specific data products and data stores to create a unified customer experience between digital, relationship managers, and financial advisor channels
-Enable the migration and consolidation of Morgan Stanley Wealth Management data products and analytics/ML use-cases on snowflake and cloud platforms
-Partner with business, analytics, and machine learning teams to translate business needs to tech architecture and requirements, develop robust roadmaps, and partner with tech teams to build and test the solutions
-Manage all aspects of data products quality and integrity in partnership with compliance, governance, and technology teams
-Master’s degree in Computer Science/Engineering/Mathematics/Technology or similar
-At least 5 years of financial service experience in data, analytics, or a related function
-Hands-on knowledge and at least 3 years’ experience of designing, curating, and wrangling data in database/data lake solutions such as RDBMS, Snowflake, Hadoop, Azure Data Lake Storage, etc.
-Hands-on expertise in SQL and Python for data wrangling, analytics, and/or data science is required
-Active learner who follows developments in data-oriented tech (solutions, tools, best practices, trends, etc.), and actively and constantly expands their knowledge and expertise
-Problem solving skills – The candidate must be an independent thinker and demonstrate the ability to identify key issues, gather data to investigate those issues and develop actionable recommendations.
-Analytical skills – The candidate must be highly analytical with experience in defining analytical approaches for projects and applying a range of analytical tools to synthesize insights and develop solutions. They must be able to engage with data scientists and analysts.
-Teamwork skills – The candidate must be flexible in their work style and be able to work collaboratively with others on the team
-Communications skills – The candidate must possess strong written and oral communication skills, including the ability to quickly adjust messages and style based on different audiences and agendas
-Project management skills – The candidate must be able to scope projects and create workable project plans (experience with AGILE/SAFE is a plus). The candidate must be able to meet commitments and balance competing priorities
-Knowledge of Wealth Management concepts and investment strategies is a plus
-High proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
Expected base pay rates for the role will be between $100,000 and $135,000 per year at the commencement of employment. However, base pay if hired will be determined on an individualized basis and is only part of the total compensation package, which, depending on the position, may also include commission earnings, incentive compensation, discretionary bonuses, other short and long-term incentive packages, and other Morgan Stanley sponsored benefit programs.
