We are building a world-class Enterprise Architecture team to drive our Technology Strategy and enable sustainable business growth. As such, we are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Enterprise Architect to join our growing team in Hong Kong, specifically to focus on driving the adoption of Enterprise Architecture capabilities within our APAC organization. This role offers the opportunity to empower teams at Morgan Stanley to effectively apply architecture practices that directly impact business outcomes and the efficiency and optimization of our organization.
As an architect within the Enterprise Architecture Core Team, you will work closely with divisional architecture teams and architects within delivery organizations. You will play a critical role in maturing the way we practice architecture
across the Technology organization landscape in Asia, with an emphasis on understanding business needs, shaping architecture strategies, and guiding teams to the most effective technology solutions while ensuring alignment with our overall Technology Strategy. We strongly value external industry perspectives into our function, and this role is expected to contribute to that effort.
You will be a founding member of team in Hong Kong, collaborating closely with colleagues in a globally distributed team. This role demands the ability to work autonomously, exceptional communication skills, deep experience in technology systems architecture, a strong business acumen, and a passion for empowering teams to deliver practical, business-focused results.
Act as a regional representative of Enterprise Architecture (EA) core team with local teams in Asia.
Partner with business stakeholders and technology teams to understand their needs and strategic objectives, incorporating external industry insights into the discussions where applicable. Work across divisional boundaries and share external perspectives and industry knowledge
Work as an architecture practitioner, Gguidinge application development leadership and teams in the architectural design and implementation of technology solutions that deliver measurable business value, whilst aligning with architectural principles, standards and best practices.
Facilitate and influence technology decision-making related to strategic investments.
Provide architectural guidance and support to development teams throughout the project lifecycle, ensuring alignment with business requirements and architectural principles, standards, and best practices observed across the technology landscape.
Empower project teams to effectively incorporate Generative AI into their solutions, providing guidance on our existing technology stack, data governance policies, ethical considerations, and the potential for positive business impact or risk. Required Skills
10+ years of experience in technical roles (computer science, technology systems design, or a related technical field), with a strong understanding of architectural principles, patterns (e.g., microservices, event-driven architecture, API-first design), and best practices, and a demonstrated ability to apply them to solve business problems.
Proven ability to guide and mentor teams in translating business requirements into practical technology implementation plans, drawing on industry best practices.
Excellent communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills, with the ability to effectively communicate with both technical and non-technical audiences, including senior business stakeholders.
Strong business acumen and an understanding of how technology can drive business value, particularly in the context of strategic investments and key programs at the firm.
Deep understanding of software development methodologies (e.g., Agile) and project LCM.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a proven capacity to analyze complex situations, identify root causes, and develop effective solutions.
A passion for empowering teams and enabling them to deliver high-quality, business-focused solutions.
Willingness to be a key contributor within a globally distributed team, and a self-starter comfortable with building a function in a new location from the ground up.
Preferred Skills
Familiarity with business architecture frameworks and methodologies, such as Business Capability Modeling, Value Stream Mapping.
Familiarity with enterprise architecture frameworks and methodologies, such as TOGAF, C4 Model.
Familiarity with C4 modeling tools (e.g., Structurizr, PlantUML).
Experience with data architecture and data modeling techniques (e.g., dimensional modeling, data vault).
Experience with cloud computing platforms and technologies (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP).
Exposure to the Finance IT domain or experience working in a large financial institution.
Exposure to Agile methodologies (e.g., Scrum, Kanban).
Exposure to data catalog and metadata management tools.
Exposure to CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices (e.g., Jenkins, GitOps).
Experience contributing to open-source projects or presenting at industry conferences.
Experience with Generative AI technologies and platforms (e.g., Large Language Models, Generative Adversarial Networks), and a strong understanding of their potential applications and limitations.
