We’re seeking someone to join our team as an Associate providing operational support to Global Capital Markets and Investment Banking Division on new issues covering debt and equity products. This is a high profile area dealing with the firm's largest investment banking clients; the candidate will work on high value deals and be in contact with sensitive information on a day-to-day basis.


In the Operations division, we partner with business units across the Firm to support financial transactions, devise and implement effective controls and develop client relationships. This is an Associate level position level position within Product Support & Services, which is responsible for providing transaction support and managing post execution processes.

What you’ll do in the role:

  • Execute processes/functions and/or support process management and project efforts, leveraging knowledge of the systems, markets and instruments that influence the team
  • Recognize risk in day-to-day processes to draw out the key issues and contribute to process improvements
  • Build relationships within team and internal stakeholders, sharing knowledge to contribute to team output
  • Participate in projects and initiatives, aiding in solution formulation with a focus on timely execution
  • High performing Associate with strong growth potential with at least 3 years experience in Syndicate Operations, Finance, or related Trading Operations role
  • Technical understanding of Capital Markets products and business
  • Foundational understanding of accounting principles


What you’ll bring to the role:

  • Ability to establish clear goals and priorities, and address non-standard issues within area of expertise with minimal guidance and supervision
  • Subject matter expertise in business area supported, client requirements, and ability to ensure control is not compromised to comply with client requests
  • Culture carrier across Operations, embracing the Firm's core values
  • At least 2 years’ relevant experience would generally be expected to find the skills required for this role
  • Ownership of Syndicate Co-Managed Deal process
  • Keeping record of all GCM Debt deal pricings
  • Coordinating revenue amounts with Controllers, the GCM desk, and other syndicate members
  • Booking P&L, receivables, and payables to the general ledger for MS management fee, underwriting fee, and selling concession amounts
  • Communicating daily with Controllers on P&L
  • Dealing extensively with the bankers on the deal regarding expense finalization
  • Participating in month-end risk reporting to verify that all syndicate general ledger balances are valid
  • Maintaining a reserve for expenses
  • Maintaining and reporting the receivable balances of deal revenue, until the fees are received
  • Finalizing and balancing out the revenue and expenses of all deals after all financials are confirmed and completed

Expected base pay rates for the role will be between $60,000 and $90,000 per year at the commencement of employment. However, base pay if hired will be determined on an individualized basis and is only part of the total compensation package, which, depending on the position, may also include commission earnings, incentive compensation, discretionary bonuses, other short and long-term incentive packages, and other Morgan Stanley sponsored benefit programs
