Morgan Stanley Private Credit (“MSPC”) is the corporate credit-investment business within the Private Credit & Equity segment of MSIM. MSPC manages investments on behalf of institutional and high net worth investors across a number of funds and strategies. MSPC funds invest in privately negotiated senior debt, junior debt and structured equity to private corporate issuers in North America and Europe.

MSPC’s Opportunistic Credit funds provide debt and structured equity financing and has the flexibility to invest across the capital structure in a variety of situations and with companies in various stages of their lifecycles. The team has a successful track record, investing for over 14 years and led by a portfolio manager with over 23 years of experience.

As Executive Director you will be responsible for sourcing, due diligence, monitoring, and portfolio management. You would be expected to lead all aspects of the investment diligence process, support portfolio management, provide guidance and leadership to more junior colleagues and to act as a representative of Morgan Stanley and MSPC.

What you’ll do in the role

  • Originate new investment opportunities from a variety of deal sources.
  • Lead the business diligence, legal & commercial negotiations, closing and monitoring through the life of an investment.
  • Monitor portfolio company results as well as assist with incremental investments and credit agreement amendments.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with borrowers, investors, and industry professionals.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to ensure alignment on investment strategies.
  • Prepare and present investment recommendations to the MSPC investment Committee.

What you’ll bring to the role

  • 10+ years of proven experience investing across the capital structure in private markets in a variety of situations.
  • Demonstrated investment acumen and track record and ability to break down companies and securities to their fundamental elements.
  • Ability to work effectively on multiple projects with senior and junior team members in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong working knowledge of cash flow modeling, credit analysis and credit documentation.
  • Strong communication and presentation skills.
  • Strong capabilities in Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Ability to work within a team and under tight deadlines.
  • Committed to delivering the highest quality work product with strong attention to detail.
  • Highly motivated and a self-starter with proven ability to lead complex workstreams.
  • Proven ability to work independently with measurable results in a fast paced, dynamic environment.

Expected base pay rates for the role will be between $200,000 and $300,000 per year at the commencement of employment. However, base pay if hired will be determined on an individualized basis and is only part of the total compensation package, which, depending on the position, may also include commission earnings, incentive compensation, discretionary bonuses, other short and long-term incentive packages, and other Morgan Stanley sponsored benefit programs.
