Morgan Stanley are looking for a Financial Reporting Associate to join their Financial Reporting Team.

The Financial Reporting Team works with the Client Facing Account Managers and the accountants responsible for the fund to prepare the annual statutory accounts along with the pack of information requested by the client’s auditor. The position requires strong communication, and accounting skills and an understanding of financial statements in the financial services industry.

The Associate will report to the Financial Reporting Manager, and will prepare the financial statements under US GAAP/IFRS and complete other regulatory reporting of hedge funds. The Associate will work with the team in providing timely deliverables, for the interim and annual audits. The position requires strong knowledge of the preparation of financial statements under accounting standards such as US GAAP/IFRS, accountancy/numeracy skills.

This wholly owned subsidiary of Morgan Stanley administers over $600 billion of hedge fund assets. Using the Firm’s proprietary, globally accessible technology platform, the business provides a full range of fund administration services, including daily accounting and financial reporting; transfer agency and investor services; middle and back-office support; and integrated portfolio analytics.

Morgan Stanley Fund Services is supported by over 1,300 professionals based in New York, London, Hong Kong, Dublin, Glasgow, Mumbai, and Bangalore.

The Financial Reporting Team is responsible for the preparation of financial statements and audit packs for the hedge fund clients and their nominated auditors.

Principal Duties:

  • Work efficiently with financial reporting team to support them in timely delivery of financial statements to the hedge fund clients of MSFS, which will comply with US GAAP/ IFRS, for both annual audits, and interim deliverables.
  • Preparing financial statements including all main statements and supporting schedules and notes.
  • Assisting auditors and ensuring the smooth audit of the financial statements by providing backup data for all disclosures presented in the financial statements.
  • Ensuring the financial statements are provided within the deadlines.
  • Following internal control policies and procedures.

Skill Requirements:

  • Ability to prepare financial statements under US GAAP/IFRS.
  • Ability to multi-task and be able to identify and escalate issues on a timely basis.
  • Good organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Knowledge of different products such as securities, derivatives and fixed income
  • Client focused, with the ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal.

Background Requirements:

  • Qualified accountant with ACCA/ICAS or relevant professional accounting degree.
  • 2-3 years experience with accounting firm, asset manager or hedge fund administrator is preferable.
