Program Description

Morgan Stanley’s Institutional Equity Division (IED) is a world leader in the origination, distribution and trading of equity, equity-linked and equity-derivative securities. The Division services a global Institutional client base, providing clients with innovative product solutions that help to generate alpha within their portfolios.

The Equity Derivatives Trading and Structuring Summit is an invite-only, in-person event for quantitative, technically-inclined students who are interested in pursuing an internship and career in Equity Derivatives Trading and Structuring.

Derivatives Trading and Structuring is responsible for the generation and facilitation of liquidity, as well as innovative product and trading solutions across a variety of Derivative products, including Equity Options (both exchange- listed and over the counter), Securitized Derivatives, and Convertible Bonds. Products and services are delivered across a full range of distribution channels, including our corporate, retail, and institutional clients. Some of our Derivatives Trading & Structuring desks include:
• Baskets
• ETFs
• Exotics
• Single Name Options
• Structuring
• Quantitative Derivatives Strategies (QDS)

Program Dates: Thursday, April 9 and Friday, April 10, 2026

Event Overview

  • This is an invite-only, on-site event hosted by Morgan Stanley representatives
  • Networking opportunity with employees across the Equity Derivatives Trading and Structuring Desks
  • Selected candidates will participate in interviews for the 2027 Summer Analyst Program

Requirements

  • You are pursuing an undergraduate degree with a technical proficiency in areas, such as: Mathematics, Statistics, Physics, Computer Science, and Engineering, with a graduation date of December 2028 or Spring 2028
  • You enjoy solving complex problems that require deep analytical reasoning and quantitative analysis
  • You are familiar with coding languages such as Python, Q, R, SQL, VBA, C++, Java, MATLAB, or Scala
  • You have strong verbal and written communication skills
  • You are collaborative, a quick learner, adaptable, a multi-tasker and possesses a strong work ethic

  • Eligible participants must:
    • Currently be enrolled at a four-year accredited institution and provide their resume with a current GPA
    • Have not yet accepted a 2027 Summer Internship offer and do not plan to do so before April 2026
    • Have availability for an in-person event on Thursday, April 9 and Friday, April 10

In order to be considered a complete application, students must submit an application and complete a HireVue (instructions emailed upon submission of application). Eligible applicants will then be sent an additional online assessment. Applicants will need to complete the assessment by the given deadline in order to be considered.
