Department Profile
The Strategy and Corporate Development team within Morgan Stanley Wealth Management develops and executes the firm’s highest priority organic and inorganic strategic initiatives, partnering with senior leadership across the firm to capture growth opportunities.
Position Summary and Responsibilities
The AVP / VP will work on the business’s most critical strategic questions across growth, profitability, multi-year planning, competitive dynamics, technology investments, and acquisitions, divestitures, and partnerships. The role includes synthesizing industry and competitive insights, building financial models and scenario analyses, developing strategic frameworks to address business problems, supporting execution of acquisitions/divestitures/partnerships, and delivering clear, actionable recommendations to help shape MSWM’s future strategy.
The AVP / VP will partner with teams across Workplace & Institutional, Advisory/PWM, E*TRADE, Investment Solutions, Finance, Technology, and Marketing. The role requires strong problem-solving, quantitative, communication, presentation, and project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver high-quality work under tight timelines.
Key tasks the candidate will be expected to perform include:
- Analyze data and build financial models to drive insights and recommendations
- Develop strategic and analytical frameworks to support critical projects
- Conduct market research to identify potential partners, targets, and key trends
- Support evaluation and execution of acquisitions, divestitures, and partnerships
- Gather competitive intelligence on existing and emerging competitors
- Create executive-ready presentations supporting business strategy
Experience
- Bachelor’s degree with a strong academic record
- 3+ years of relevant experience in management consulting, investment banking, or an internal strategy/corporate development function
Skills/Abilities
- Strategic thinker with strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Strong data analysis and financial modeling skills; solid foundation in corporate finance and accounting
- Excellent attention to detail and strong written and verbal communication skills
- Proven ability to manage multiple workstreams simultaneously
- Self-starter who takes initiative, learns quickly, and works independently
- Collaborative teammate with strong interpersonal and professional judgment
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
- Proficiency in AI tools (effective prompt writing, GPT creation, etc.)

Expected base pay rates for the role will be between $90,000 and $190,000 per year at the commencement of employment. However, base pay if hired will be determined on an individualized basis and is only part of the total compensation package, which, depending on the position, may also include commission earnings, incentive compensation, discretionary bonuses, other short and long-term incentive packages, and other Morgan Stanley sponsored benefit programs.
