Job Description:
The Neuberger Berman Summer Internship in London is an eight week program that exposes interns to an interactive on-the-job training environment. Positions vary; each intern is integrated into an assigned department and handles a multitude of daily tasks. Over the course of the program, interns become familiarized with the company’s services, culture and values while learning about asset management and financial services.
We are seeking highly motivated individuals to work within our Investment Funds business, which services approximately $34 billion of client assets out of our London office across a variety of strategies in UCITS and QIAIF regulated structures.
As a summer intern, the individual would work with the Funds Client Services and Fund Oversight teams in the Operations department of Neuberger Berman. The summer intern will have immediate and direct exposure to all aspects of the firm’s investment fund business on a daily basis.
The internship presents a unique opportunity to work directly on key projects in a team-oriented, fast-paced, and highly dynamic environment.
Responsibilities:
The Funds Client Service and Fund Oversight team covers a multitude of functions and manage significant global relationships with both internal and external stakeholders such as administrators, external asset managers, distributors, private banks, etc. The successful candidate will participate in the team’s day-to-day processes, such as investor onboarding, fund launches, distributor oversight and investor query management. Key projects and focus areas will also be identified for the for this program which cover a wide range of the roles and responsibilities within the team including;
- Assist team with reviewing/analysing Neuberger fund data points that are reflected on our external vendors i.e. Morningstar, Bloomberg, Fundinfo
- Assist the team in reviewing monthly TERs (Total Expense ratios) received in from the Administrators
- Gain exposure to the European MIFID Template (EMT) process
- Assist the Fund Oversight team on new share class launch process and KIID monitoring and production
- Assist the team with invoicing process a
- Assist the teams in managing daily queries from the business
- Gain exposure to how the team manages the relationships of the extensive network of global distribution platforms that the business deals with.
- Gain exposure to the European and US dealing infrastructure (e.g. NSCC, Clearstream, Calastone)
- Gain exposure to and assist with product implementation in conjunction with various teams throughout the global business
- Assist the team in enhancing existing processes by seeking ways to improve and seeking efficiency gains that may be realized through alternative/automated methods.
Qualifications:
- Penultimate year of study
- Business or Finance qualifications/degree (in progress) desirable
- Good awareness of financial markets and how they operate
- Ability to interact with a wide variety of stakeholders in order to complete tasks
- Interest in learning how an investment firm operates with both internal and external stakeholders on a daily basis
- Ability to work well independently as well part of a team
- Demonstrates a pro-active approach to challenges and problem solving
- Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment with an attention to detail
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Aptitude for quickly learning new information systems
- Proficient using Excel, Word, PowerPoint and database tools
- Strong mathematical skills
- Highly motivated with a passion for investing
