Neuberger Berman's Principal Strategies Group (PSG) is a $3.5 billion alternative investment platform that sits at the intersection of public and private markets. The group manages a differentiated suite of strategies, including a market neutral event-driven hedge fund strategy and a private market crossover equity strategy, offering investors exposure to compelling opportunities across the equity event spectrum.
We are seeking a driven and analytically rigorous investment professional to focus on our crossover equity strategy. In this role, you will take an active part in evaluating and executing direct investment opportunities, with a focus on technology and healthcare companies. The ideal candidate brings 2 years of experience in a top-tier investment banking program followed by 2 years in private equity.
Responsibilities:
- Analyzing and conducting comprehensive due diligence on potential direct late-stage growth equity investment opportunities
- Performing in-depth analysis of companies and industries with an emphasis on technology and healthcare
- Review of deal terms, structure and legal documentation
- Assisting with the diligence and preparation of due diligence materials and investment committee memos
- Monitoring and reporting on firm’s existing investments through regular interaction with portfolio companies, attending quarterly and annual meetings of portfolio companies, reviewing quarterly financials, and performing portfolio analysis
- Staying current on industry trends and monitoring the competitive landscape for portfolio investments
- Communicating insights on trends and developments in the private portfolio to the portfolio management team
- Supporting fund marketing and existing client requests
- Conducting ad hoc special projects
Qualifications:
- Must have excellent academic credentials (both undergraduate school and GPA)
- Must have 2 years of top-tier investment banking program experience AND 2 years of top-tier private equity experience
- Must be ranked near the top of investment banking class with exceptional quantitative skills
- Must have strong judgment, critical thinking and written skills; ability to articulate and present ideas effectively both orally and in written form
- Must show initiative and creativity in approach to problem solving; demonstrated experience in conducting research and interacting with others to develop solutions
- Must have ability to multi-task with a fine-tuned attention to detail
- Must have team-player attitude and a desire to work on a wide range of projects
- Demonstrated proficiency with Excel and PowerPoint and ability to integrate AI tools into the research and investment process

Compensation Details
The salary range for this role in Illinois is $125,000-$175,000 and the salary range for the role in New York is $125,000-$175,000. This is the lowest to highest salary we in good faith believe we would pay for this role at the time of this posting. We may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range, and the range may be modified in the future. An employee’s pay position within the salary range will be based on several factors including, but limited to, relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, geographic location, business sector, performance, shift, travel requirements, sales or revenue-based metrics, market benchmarking data, any collective bargaining agreements, and business or organizational needs. This job is also eligible for a discretionary bonus, which, along with base salary and retirement contributions, is part of our total comprehensive package. We offer a comprehensive package of benefits including paid time off, medical/dental/vision insurance, retirement, life insurance and other benefits to eligible employees.Note: No amount of pay is considered to be wages or compensation until such amount is earned, vested, and determinable.
