Neuberger Berman's Private Wealth business delivers sophisticated investment management and wealth planning solutions to ultra-high-net-worth individuals, families, and foundations. Private Wealth serves clients through a highly personalized, consultative approach backed by the full breadth of Neuberger Berman's investment capabilities.
The Private Wealth Business Controls Group (PW BCG) serves as the first line of defense risk function for the Private Wealth business, partnering closely with Compliance, Risk, and Legal to maintain a robust and continuously improving control environment. The team is responsible for process governance, procedure development, risk and control self-assessments, control testing, event management, issue management, and senior management reporting. As Private Wealth continues to grow and evolve, PW BCG is expanding to ensure the control environment scales in parallel with the business.
Position Overview
This role reports directly to the Managing Director and Head of PW BCG and will play a critical part in the team's expanding risk monitoring and issue management capabilities. The AVP/VP will work closely with all members of the PW BCG team and will also maintain a partnership with Neuberger Berman's second line Operational Risk team, collaborating on event and issue reporting to ensure all items are accurately documented, entered timely, and reflect appropriate root cause analysis, as well as partnering on thematic reviews to identify and address emerging risk trends across the Private Wealth business.
Primary Responsibilities
- Own the end-to-end event management process, including identification, documentation, escalation, and resolution tracking across the Private Wealth business
- Lead lessons learned efforts following events, synthesizing key takeaways and translating them into actionable improvements
- Conduct thematic reviews and deep dive analysis on emerging risk areas, patterns of events, and targeted business activities, delivering findings and recommendations to senior management
- Own the issue management lifecycle, ensuring all identified issues are properly documented, assigned, tracked, and remediated within established timeframes
- Develop and produce regular reporting on the state of the control environment, open issues, event trends, and thematic review findings for senior management and relevant governance committees
- Serve as a primary liaison to the second line Operational Risk team, supporting ongoing risk partnership, escalation protocols, and collaborative assessments of the Private Wealth control environment
Experience & Skills Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree required
- 5–10 years of experience in financial services, with meaningful experience in business controls, risk management, audit, or compliance within Wealth Management, Private Banking, or a similar environment
- Demonstrated experience managing events, conducting root cause analysis, and driving issues through to resolution
- Experience designing and delivering thematic or deep dive risk reviews, with the ability to synthesize complex information into clear findings and actionable recommendations
- Strong issue management skills, including documentation, tracking, and stakeholder communication throughout the remediation lifecycle
- Experience partnering with second line risk functions, with an understanding of first line / second line roles and responsibilities
- Proven ability to produce high-quality reporting and presentations for senior management and governance committees
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to convey complex risk topics clearly and concisely to a range of audiences
- Strong analytical and critical thinking skills; comfortable working with data to identify patterns, trends, and emerging risks
- Highly organized with strong attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic environment
- Collaborative, ownership-oriented mindset with a proactive approach to identifying and addressing risk

Compensation Details
The salary range for this role is $90,000-$135,000. This is the lowest to highest salary we in good faith believe we would pay for this role at the time of this posting. We may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range, and the range may be modified in the future. This range is only applicable for jobs to be performed in the job posting location. An employee’s pay position within the salary range will be based on several factors including, but limited to, relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, geographic location, business sector, performance, shift, travel requirements, sales or revenue-based metrics, market benchmarking data, any collective bargaining agreements, and business or organizational needs. This job is also eligible for a discretionary bonus, which, along with base salary and retirement contributions, is part of our total comprehensive package. We offer a comprehensive package of benefits including paid time off, medical/dental/vision insurance, retirement, life insurance and other benefits to eligible employees.Note: No amount of pay is considered to be wages or compensation until such amount is earned, vested, and determinable.
