What is the opportunity?
An exciting opportunity to join as an Associate, within investor macro and spread structuring team.
- Content: design, manufacturing and pricing of products (axes, themes, risk recycling…) to suit RBC clients’ needs and RBC risk appetite
- Diversification: education of products and features to sales and clients in an effort to diversifying the global markets platform
- Scalability: Help facilitate scalability through platform automation and increased efficiency
- Risk/Reward:
- Increase client value in an efficient risk/reward approach
- Achieve KPIs described in yearly goal settings (e.g. balance sheet optimization, RWA reduction…)
- Best practices design and execution to improve standards and protect the firm
What will you do?
Trade idea generation / Product innovation
- Market intelligence: geographic activity monitoring of product popularity
- Identify, analyze and pursue business opportunities (e.g. creation of a specific tool, new product or structure…)
- Use of economic research reports: collect and incorporate economic rationale into product offering
- Organize and circulate deal information among sales and team mates, to foster pooling of interest and ideas
Pricing/ Structuring
- Propose, design and price options and structures to embed into global hedging solutions or investment products for clients
- Incorporate XVA’s, hurdle methodology
- Perform price simulations (either historical, prospective): back-testing or forward-testing of hedging strategies; work with quants, BT and traders on development of pricing tools and automation of recurring pricing requests
Marketing
- Contribute to building client pitches, product campaigns
- Good knowledge of the markets
- Generation of attractive and comprehensive marketing documents and term sheets, with product description, benefits/risks simulations, market or economic rationale, accounting treatment
- Participate in external client meetings, executing and pitching together with the sales
Deal execution
- Coordination between sales, trading, clients and any stakeholders such as DCM, TMG…
- Ensure documentation is accurate and exhaustive (internal documentation, term-sheet, internal tickets, legal documentation, set-up of booking and alerts, and external for documentation sent to clients for executed transactions Executing with market participants swap transactions, on behalf of issuing clients to provide agreed funding parameters, and on behalf of the firm as a hedging tool
Additionally:
- Ensure best practices at all levels and improve standards of the operating model
- Work closely with Sales to improve client contact and coverage
- Assist in all aspects of booking of transactions and monitoring over the life cycle of the trade if and when apply;
- Ensure suitability of products is reviewed for the relevant target market
- To train and develop the Canadian FX sales team in order to increase their knowledge, confidence and proactivity in selling options products
- To drive development of new products and tools, working closely with I.T., Trading, Quants, Sales and other relevant stakeholders. This will include testing, internal training, collating feedback, and driving ongoing improvements to new and existing systems and technology
What do you need to succeed?
Must have
- Educated to degree level.
- A high degree of mathematical ability and ability to price complex structures and options
- Significant understanding of derivatives pricing and practical application in the context of client solutions
- Self-motivated, innovative and adaptable.
- Team player and ability to work with & co-ordinate many people
- Good communication skills Strong attention to detail Original and creative
- Excellent modelling capabilities
- Good knowledge of financial products
- Certified Person

- Quantitative background
- Financial instruments pricing experienced
