What is the opportunity?

The Senior Advisor, Global Mobility (UK) will be the regional specialist for matters related to relocations into the region under global mobility programs and policies.

You will be responsible for mobility needs in the UK office leveraging the guidance and support from the Global Mobility Centre of Excellence (GM CoE) in Toronto, Canada.

You will provide guidance to business stakeholders, Human Resources Business Partners and Advisors (HRBPs/HRAs) and the Human Resources Centres of Excellence (HR CoE) as appropriate.

The role of the Senior Advisor, Global Mobility (UK) will report to the Director, Global Mobility (Toronto) and have dotted line responsibility to UK HR.

This role is the central point of contact for global mobility support and HRBP generalist coverage for UK and EU across all lines of business including, but not limited to Capital Markets, Functions, and Wealth Management.

What will you do?

HR Generalist 50%

  • Act as a regional talent mobility specialist to the business for matters related to relocations into the UK, Channel Islands and other European locations and work closely with HR Partners across the region as needed.

  • Central point of contact for all UK employee Immigration Compliance (including student programs and business travel outside of UK).

  • Monitor and manage information related to talent into UK and EU.

  • Work with HR Governance and Compliance to identify regulatory certification requirements of transferees and align with HR or GM or other departments as needed.

  • In the case of permanent transfers, work closely with partners in HR as well as internal and external counsels as appropriate to help formalise local employment contracts.

  • Point of contact for visa queries, extensions, approval management, clawback policies and general SME in this area now – including managing the process and migration from ADP to Workday.

  • New graduate (onboarding and training) immigration assistance, as needed

  • Work together with global centres of excellence and external partners to coordinate work authorizations, sponsorships and visas, expiration and renewal tracking and planning as needed.

Global Mobility 50%

  • Co-ordinate and partner with GM CoE, Immigration Advisors and Relocation Management Company to support relocations in and out of region.

  • Central point of contact for GM CoE on administrative needs related to Non-Resident Board of Director Travel Day Validations.

  • Co-ordinate with Mobility Tax team to finalise annual authorisation lists, and invoicing approvals as needed.

  • Provide advisory support to business, HR partners or employees on solutions, considerations, implications and risks of proposed talent moves/new hires at initial planning stages and throughout the employee’s lifecycle.

  • Act as the liaison between the transferring employee and all stakeholders including, but not limited to, suppliers, COEs (e. g. Pension, Benefits) and HRBPs.

  • Partner with GM Mobility Tax and Relocation Management to effectively manage GM programs within policy, processes and support tax and financial YE processes as needed.

  • Work with GM COE and vendors to finalise cost estimates, approvals, letters as part of current GM process.

  • Participate in regular team updates with GM Relocation Management and Mobility Tax teams to ensure alignment, support and increased learning and visibility to enable supporting of region.

What do you need to succeed?

Must-have:

  • Undergraduate degree or experience in a related field is required (Human Resources, Global Mobility)

  • Experience managing employer-sponsored immigration case files

  • Demonstrated high attention to detail, and partner orientation

  • Good advisory experience within an HR/global mobility function/role

  • Passion and interest in providing high quality advisory support in a regional HR function

  • Strong listening and organization skills with the ability to prioritise work effectively

  • Ability to work under pressure both independently and collaboratively in a team environment, with high sense of urgency

  • Works collaboratively with other team members and internal/external contacts

  • Undertakes activities to support continuous learning and self- development to enable awareness of industry trends and changes

  • Provides back-up coverage/surplus assistance during periods of vacation/absence/high work, supports team whenever required

  • Outstanding verbal and written communication skills.

Nice-to-haves:

  • CERC, GMS or HR certification

  • Human Resources or Paralegal Designation.
