What is the opportunity?


As a member of RBC Global Regulatory Relations Strategic Leadership Team (“SLT”), the role provides input, review and challenges the RBC’s global regulatory engagement strategy;

As a key member of a global team, apply a cohesive and consistent approach to managing regulatory engagements and consistent reporting of regulatory matters across the respective region(s), including program governance, policies, procedures, and best practices, as applicable.


What will you do?

  • Leads a team responsible for maintaining and facilitating effective and transparent relationships and managing regulatory requests with RBC’s lead financial regulators, for all of RBC’s business segments and functional areas in the UK & Europe;
  • Provides regional Boards of Directors and Management with proactive and reactive advisory and reporting regarding key regulatory developments, trends, issues and emerging risks, as appropriate;
  • Provide accurate, insightful, consistent, and timely regulatory engagement information through simultaneous updates to Global Head of Regulatory Relations and regional Boards of Directors, senior business/functions leadership, and other key RBC stakeholders.
  • Lead effective stakeholder preparation and debriefs, including the facilitation of meetings to ensure active engagement by stakeholders, providing relevant information from previous regulatory engagements, providing relevant regulatory guidance to stakeholders and cascading pertinent information or thematic concerns from related regulatory engagements.
  • Fosters an environment that supports the development of “best in class” leadership and a strong succession pipeline.
  • Identify, evaluate, and understand risk issues and their connectivity throughout RBC during the normal course of business. Appropriately escalate potential risk issues to the relevant stakeholder, as appropriate.
  • Work closely with Regulatory Relations colleagues to safeguard, the management, distribution, and handling of confidential regulatory information.

What do you need to succeed?

Must-have

  • Strong Organisation skills demonstrated on a range of cross functional initiatives.
  • Strong familiarity with UK & European financial regulators’ expectations and processes, across all three lines of defence, including the UK FCA’s Senior Managers Regime (“SMR”).
  • Experience in the creation of corporate presentations. Experience of the full project life cycle.
  • Effective facilitator.
  • Degree level education.
