RBC’s Office of the US CIO is responsible for the oversight of all technology supporting the firm’s Combined US Operations (CUSO). The CUSO includes Capital Markets, Wealth Management, City National Bank, RBC Bank (US), Global Asset Management, and Functions within the US.
The US IT Operations Director role is accountable to the US CIO for the oversight of the organizations IT infrastructure and operations. This hands-on role is responsible for overseeing operational, change, and incident management ensuring a sustainable and scalable IT environment. Additionally, this role is accountable for ensuring consistency of execution assurance across technology programs supporting the CUSO, in terms of governance, risk management, and value realization.
What will you do?
Lead a team in assessing and refining closure packages to ensure compliance with internal and external regulatory expectations
Collaborate with IT domain and regulatory delivery owners to ensure closure packages meet requirements
Guide T&O teams in developing response narratives that address regulatory, IA, and 2LoD observations
Ensure response narratives cater to the core of the issues, explain remediation efforts, and demonstrate risk management
Review and audit closure documents at all levels (task, milestone, corrective action) to ensure compliance and consistency
Develop a holistic narrative approach to stitch together a cohesive storyline across all closure documents
Negotiate interpretations with audit teams as needed, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards (FFIEC, OCC heightened standards)
Support risk remediation efforts including regulatory reviews, exams and findings
Manage and develop a high-performance team
Support US CIO and Head of US CIO Operations
What do you need to succeed?
Minimum of 10 years of experience in the financial services industry in the US, with a strong background in regulatory response management and a deep understanding of regulatory expectations and requirements.
In-depth knowledge of US regulatory landscape, as well as experience in ensuring compliance with regulatory expectations.
Proven experience in coordinating complex regulatory response efforts across multiple stakeholders, with a track record of success in driving transformational change in large, complex ecosystems.
Commitment to driving regulatory excellence and a strong understanding of the importance of regulatory compliance in the financial services industry.
The ability to think strategically and grasp the big picture, while also maintaining rigorous attention to detail and ensuring that all regulatory response efforts are thorough and effective.
Strong understanding of technology, risk and change management processes, with the ability to apply this knowledge to develop and implement effective regulatory response strategies.
Experience working in a complex setup and exposure to management and board expectations
The ability to think strategically and maintain rigorous attention to detail
Solid verbal and written communication skills, proven organizational skills, with the ability to meet tight deadlines in a dynamic environment.
Ability to influence a diverse group of stakeholders and demonstrate strong collaboration skills across the organization.
Strong problem-solving skills with a results-oriented mindset
Nice-to-have
Risk and Controls certification like ITIL, CISSP

Flexible work/life balance options
The good-faith expected salary range for the above position is $275k - $315K depending on factors including but not limited to the candidate’s experience, skills, registration status; market conditions; and business needs. This salary range does not include other elements of total compensation, including a discretionary bonus and benefits such as a 401(k) program with company-matching contributions; health, dental, vision, life, and disability insurance; and paid time-off plan.
