What is the opportunity?

The Market Risk London team is responsible for monitoring, analysing, and reporting on market risk exposure stemming from the European trading activity within RBC Capital Markets, RBC Investor Services and RBC Wealth Management in Europe.


The Market Risk Manager is responsible for accurate and timely risk reporting, ongoing monitoring and producing analysis of market risk taken by trading desks, which can include, but is not limited to: Flow Rates, Credit, Treasury Services, Debt Capital Markets and Foreign Exchange Trading.

RBC’s expectation is that from mid-September 2025, all employees and contractors will work in the office with some flexibility to work up to 1 day per week remotely, depending on working arrangements.

What will you do?

  • Communicate results and analysis of market and derivatives risks to management and key internal stakeholders.

  • Monitor and analyse investments' market risks and derivatives exposures on a short-and long-term basis.

  • Implement complex and significant market and derivatives risk management projects.

  • Develop complex market risk quantitative analysis; design derivatives risk metrics and tools to help manage, measure, and monitor market and derivatives risks.

  • Always uphold the reputation of RBC and Group Risk Management.

  • Responsible for monitoring Tactical and Operational Risk limits relating to in-scope trading desks/businesses.

  • Prepare risk analysis where required as well as a recommended course of action to facilitate decision making for senior management regarding limit extensions, annual limit reviews, product mandate amendments and hoc trading requests.

  • Act as key contact for Risk IT and other IT functions in relation to risk reporting/processes for in-scope trading desks/businesses.

What do you need to succeed?

Must-have

  • Analytical work which requires significant attention to detail.

  • As a member of a Global Team, interaction with other regions is required.

  • Oversight of flow trading business requires a need to work in a fast-paced and high-pressure environment.

  • Quantitative, Finance and/or Economics degree or similar/equivalent.

  • Strong English language skills - both oral and written.

  • Excellent knowledge of Excel.

  • Practical applications/use of Python and Bloomberg

Nice-to-have

  • Working towards or completion of CFA/FRM or Masters or similar/equivalent.
