What is the opportunity?
The Senior Manager, Unusual Transaction Reporting (UTR) Assessment and Engagement supports the Director in advancing UTR-related activities across the enterprise. Unusual Transaction Reports (UTRs) are a key element of RBC Anti-Money Laundering (AML) Program, helping identify activity that may present elevated risk and supporting compliance with regulatory expectations. Working within the Financial Crimes group, the Senior Manager role contributes to the refinement and maintenance of UTR expectations, indicators, reference materials, and reporting inputs to ensure they remain clear, current, and aligned to operational and regulatory requirements.
The Senior Manager works both collaboratively and independently, leading assigned workstreams end- to-end, organizing information from multiple sources, and producing clear deliverables to support consistent UTR interpretation and application. This role is ideal for a strong executor who can operate across varied business contexts, provided structured analysis, and translate direction into practical, execution-ready outputs .
What will you do?
Produce, review and enhance, UTR reporting outputs to identify trends, themes, or areas where adjustments, documentation, or indicators may support consistent interpretation.
Conduct and support reviews of existing UTR related practices, identifying areas where updates, clarification or enhancements may be beneficial.
Lead defined workstreams independently, ensuring deliverables are well-structured, documented, and aligned to first- and second-line expectations.
Support the refinement and maintenance of UTR expectations, indicators, reference materials, and operational documentation to ensure clarity and consistency across the enterprise.
Gather and consolidate an organized information to support updates to UTR examples, behavioral indicators, an awareness materials and training guidance.
Prepare clear, concise materials to support discussions and alignment activities.
Collaborate with the Director to coordinate inputs across relevant internal teams and support execution of UTR related initiatives.
What do you need to succeed?
Must Haves:
Post secondary education or equivalent experience.
Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple work streams and shifting priorities.
Proven ability to interpret information from varied business contexts and apply UTR expectations consistently.
Excellent written communication skills with experience preparing clear, structured materials for senior audiences.
Understanding of unusual transaction reporting requirements, including first-line execution expectations and second-line roles.
Ability to collaborate effectively while also driving execution focused activities independently.
High attention to detail and disciplined documentation habits.
Nice to Haves:
Experience in AML, Financial Crimes, compliance, audit or risk roles.
Familiarity with UTR/STR-SAR behavioral indicators, detection concepts or operational red flag concepts.
Business line experience (retail, WM, CM)
Experience with reporting interpretation, (e.g., Tableau, Power BI).
Exposure to enterprise initiatives or cross functional work that requires coordination and structured execution.
