What is the opportunity?

Shape the Future of Risk in Wealth Management.

We're looking for a dynamic Operational Risk Manager to join our Wealth Management Europe (WME) team. This isn't just a role-it's a chance to be a strategic partner in building industry-leading risk practices that empower sound decision-making. Here, you'll dive into operational risk events, issue management, and control frameworks, turning insights into action. With a focus on annual RCSAs, risk appetite, and KRIs, you'll collaborate across teams to strengthen our risk culture.

This is a permanent, full-time role and requires 4 days in the office at our London office.

What you will do?

Lead and inspire:
Guide stakeholders to implement cutting-edge risk frameworks.

Drive impact: Turn risk events into thematic insights that sharpen our controls.

Shape strategy:
Partner with senior leaders to align risk practices with business goals.

Innovate: Champion fresh ideas to streamline processes and elevate standards.

Risk Reporting & Resilience:

  • Lead KRIs, thematic reviews, and risk appetite metrics to inform strategic decisions.
  • Partner with 2LoD/central teams to validate data and ensure regulatory alignment.
  • Strengthen risk resilience during change (e.g., transformations, regulatory shifts) by identifying control gaps and mitigation strategies.

What you will need to succeed?
Must-Have

  • Proven Relationship builder: Experience in fostering trust and driving growth through strategic partnerships.
  • Deep Risk expertise: Hands-on experience with RCSA, issue management, risk events, and reporting in financial services.
  • Storytelling Skills: The ability to turn complex risk data into clear, compelling narratives.
  • Creative problem-solver: A knack for tackling challenges with innovation and pragmatism.
  • Skilled Balancer of Competing Demands: Thrive in a fast-paced environment with competing priorities.
  • Fraud & Change Risk Expertise: Proven experience managing fraud risk and operational risk within change initiatives.


Nice-to-have

  • Certifications like CISI, ICA, or IRM, or a background in finance/data
  • Familiarity with RBC's global/UK organizational structure.
