• manage counterparty and liquidity exposures for the Americas Prime Brokerage/Financing client base with a focus on Equity markets, ensuring that clients are managed to firm risk appetite.
• manage any distressed client situations liaising directly with the Client, Credit Risk Control, Senior Management and other stakeholders to minimize the risk of loss to UBS
• ongoing monitoring of client exposures, significant market events and key industry developments such as SIMM
• assessment of new client portfolios and negotiation of legal and margin terms
• development of new margin and risk models
• provide transparent risk reporting to management and other internal stakeholders
• build and maintain ongoing client relationships used to negotiate with clients, better understand their strategies as well and risk management practices.

You’ll be working in the Prime Brokerage Risk team in New York, NY. This is a First Line of Defense risk management team with colleagues in New York, Zurich, London and Hong Kong. We interact with hedge funds and other asset managers as part of a full suite of trading and financing products that UBS offers to institutional clients.

Your expertise

• ideally 7-10 years’ experience working within financial markets with a focus on Equities and derivative products in a risk management capacity, trading or in a role with considerable exposure to this business area
• bachelor, Master degree or equivalent in a quantitative area such as Mathematics, Computer Science, Engineering or Financial Engineering
• strong communications skills, both oral & written
• reliable when working independently, with sound judgment for when to escalate issues
• quickly adaptable to changing market situations, technology and business needs
• strong IT skills and systems experience with some coding knowledge and regular use of Python, R, VBA, SQL or C++
• highly organized, hands-on and proactive, capable of distilling vast amounts of qualitative information into a quantitative framework to support decision making.
• fluency in main financial risk management models, such as stress testing and Value at Risk
• broad product knowledge of derivatives. Able to understand, quantify and summarize key risks for forwards, swaps and option contracts.

Salary information

CA, CO, WA and NY based roles: The salary range for this role is $143,750 to $181,250 based on experience, education, and skill level. This role may be eligible for discretionary incentive compensation. For benefits information: ubs.com/usbenefits.
