Your role

The senior US economist will play a central role in the development of the House View, is expected to be a thought leader on US economics topics, and should be able to excel in a fast-paced environment. Primary responsibilities include:

• Lead the team’s US economic research, with responsibility for producing forecasts and scenarios for growth, inflation, and Fed policy that are inputs to the entire CIO investment process and published as CIO Research distributed to financial advisors and clients.
• Collaborate with policy analysts to assess the likelihood and potential economic impact of fiscal, trade, and other policy actions.
• Contribute to the US tactical asset allocation process by helping to identify the macro regime (e.g., levels of growth and inflation) and developing metrics to monitor these economic attributes.
• Lead and support research efforts on long-term secular trends, such as US debt sustainability and the impact of AI on the economy, with a focus on their investment implications.
• Provide US economic input to the global FX strategy team, and communicate CIO views on the USD and other currencies to financial advisors and clients.
• Present research findings within CIO and to a wide array of stakeholders in GWM, and contribute to the creation of research publications.
• Point person to communicate CIO economic views, engaging with FAs, clients, internal stakeholders, and the media.

You will be joining the US asset allocation team in the Chief Investment Office (CIO) within UBS Global Wealth Management (GWM). The CIO aims to provide institutional quality investment advice to private wealth clients by researching and communicating economic outlooks, investment opportunities and portfolio strategies. These collectively form the UBS “House View,” which is the overall economic, market, and asset allocation view for GWM. The US team is comprised of experienced investment management professionals, working in close collaboration with CIO colleagues in the US and globally. Your expertise

• Master’s or Ph.D. degree in economics or equivalent.
• ideally 10+ years of experience in an economics role with similar responsibilities.
• Experience working within an organization supporting institutional quality investment processes.
• A confident decision-maker, highly organized and detail oriented.
• Capable of communicating complicated economic, finance, and portfolio concepts to a general investor audience.
• Strong Excel, Bloomberg, and PowerPoint skills, and familiarity with Matlab or comparable programming languages.
• Series 7 and 66 (or equivalent) or willing to obtain immediately upon hire.
