Your role
Are income tax issues and tax planning your passion? Does planning analysis motivate you? Do you enjoy creating or reviewing models for sophisticated planning strategies? We're looking for someone with those interests who can:
• research and analyze individual, corporate and partnership income tax issues for UHNW clients
• provide insight on clients’ current entity structures, family businesses, corporate tax issues and philanthropic strategies
• review and analyze sophisticated models of wealth transfer and philanthropic strategies for clients, incorporating federal and state income and estate tax consequences
• independently review and summarize planning documents (e.g., Irrevocable Trusts, operating agreements) to create an analysis of current planning strategies and provide feedback and recommendations
• think critically about a client's assets and liabilities in order to educate a client about their options from a tax and planning standpoint

Your team
As a member of the Advanced Planning team (which is comprised of former practicing estate planning and tax attorneys and other tax professionals), you will work collaboratively with other team members and in partnership with financial advisors to proactively engage clients and prospects with a net worth of at least $50M in a dialogue surrounding advanced income tax strategies, and the integration of those strategies with their estate plan and investment portfolios. As an Associate, you will partner with members of the Advanced Planning team to proactively engage Ultra High Net Worth clients and prospects with net worth of at least $50M in a dialogue surrounding advanced tax and philanthropic strategies, and the integration of those strategies with their investment portfolios. You will prepare comprehensive analysis and review of a client's current tax planning strategies, supporting the client facing work of the Senior Wealth Strategists in the Advanced Planning group. You will periodically be asked to assist Senior Wealth Strategists with client meetings.
Your expertise
• an advanced degree (e.g., JD, CPA)
• strong technical skills
• ideally, 3+ years minimum working at a law, accounting or financial firm that provided relevant experience to perform the duties described above
• active Series 7 and 66 (or are required to obtain them within 90 days of hire)
• ability to understand and assimilate complex personal financial information (tax returns, investment statements, incentive benefits, employee benefits and compensation, life insurance policies, business interests, qualified and nonqualified retirement plan information, pension and annuity information, deferred compensation information, incentive and non-qualified stock option and restricted stock information)
• experience with the following subject matter areas, techniques and strategies: personal income, corporate, and partnership tax disciplines, philanthropic planning, planning with concentrated stock positions, incentive benefits, non-qualified stock options, incentive stock options, and restricted stock
• able to interact with clients, senior strategists, financial advisors, product areas, vendors and field experts
• skilled at working with a high degree of autonomy, setting priorities and managing deadlines as well as able to be organized and have strong project coordination skills
• a team player, enthusiastic and positive, polished, poised and professional while also being self-motivated and proactive
